This firm is well known not only in Bengal but throughout India because Mohendra Dutta & Sons was actually the pioneer in this line of manucfacturing.In the year 1882, Late Mohendra Dutt, a professional pakhwaj maestro, pioneered the concept of Indian umbrellas at Mahatma Gandhi Road(formerly known as Harrison Road), Kolkata-700009 enriching the fame and popularity of umbrellas. After the demise of this great gentleman in 1909, his son Late Bhawani Charan Dutt took over the responsibility. He introduced the latest technologies in umbrella manufacturing. It was during this time, that his son Late Ashutosh Dutt joined the family business. He was a man of substance who possessed the intelligence, grit, determination and the flexibility to run this industry in true with the changing times. He was respectable Vice Chairman of Durgapur Development Board. He also served outstandingly as the chairperson of the Umbrella Merchants Associations.
After his demise, his son, Sri Kalinath Dutt, (great grandson of Late Mohendra Dutt) the present chairperson of the company, is now al helm of affairs,. He has maintained the tradition of trust and quality of the company but hi's offering these class products at reasonable yet another first in India.
