Our Agitators have a large, center mounted low speed blade. They efficiently pump large volumes of product with little or no shear. Agitators are most often used to mix low viscosity products. A variety of configurations are available to meet various process requirements.

An agitator mill has a fixed, outer, cylindrical grinding container, to which a cylindrical inner stator is fitted in a spaced manner. A rotary driven, cup-shaped rotor is positioned coaxially to the grinding container and engages in the grinding area formed between the grinding container and the inner stator, so that the grinding area is subdivided into an outer grinding area and an inner grinding area.
 
A discharge device located within the inner stator is connected in the flow direction to the inner grinding area. A rotary, cylindrical separating screen is positioned coaxially to the rotor between the end of the inner grinding area and the discharge device. In order to ensure a correct operation of the agitator mill with relatively low constructional costs, the separating screen is fitted to the rotor and sealed with respect to the inner stator by means of a seal, particularly a slip ring seal.

A Disperser is a single shaft mixer used to break apart or dissolve solid particles in a liquid. This is typically accomplished using a "saw tooth" blade rotating at high speed (approximately 5200 feet per minute peripheral speed). The blade imparts high shear forces to the ingredients to be dispersed, breaking them apart. Through proper blade selection and sizing, a flow can be established that will repeatedly turn over the batch and yield a homogeneous product. Dispersers are most often used to mix low viscosity products such as paints.

Multi-shaft mixers have multiple configuration blade arrangement
  • A center mounted low speed blade sweeping the mixing vessel wall
  • High speed blade typically provides high shear to disperse or dissolve ingredients.
  • Low speed blade feeds the high speed blade by blending and folding the mass in the vessel and improves product uniformity by scraping the walls.
Multi-shaft mixers are most often used to mix medium to high viscosity products. 


Why Multi shaft mixer?
A high speed disperser alone has a limited zone of influence in viscous products, so the low speed blade is necessary to achieve a homogeneous mixture. When equipped with scrapers, the low speed blade also aids in heat transfer to an external jacket. Multi-shaft mixers are sometimes used with low viscosity products when scraping the vessel wall is beneficial.

 Our Planetary Mixers (Single or Double Planetary) offers a solution to a wide range of mixing problems. Designed for intensive mixing, dispersing, kneading, and deaerating products such as adhesives, sealants, light caulks, pastes, coatings, granulations, and similar products of medium to high viscosity.
Rotation of the Planetary Blades on their own axis while they travel around the center of the mixing bowl ensures complete and effective mixing. 

The mixers are available in various sizes, with or without self-aligning bowl scrapers, and manual or hydraulic lifts. Heavy-duty construction allows the production of newer and tougher compounds in a trouble-free manner, while also being very durable and reliable in operation. The mixers are manufactured to rigid standards with many features and options available.

Sigma Mixer
Sigma Mixer

 SIGMA mixer is used for the mixing-kneading of materials with very high viscosities (over 500,000 cps). They are used in the chemical, food, sealing compound and paint industries, among others. In these machines the mixing arms rotate at different speeds (usually in the ratio of 3 to 2). The mixing action is a combination of bulk movement, smearing, stretching, folding, dividing, and recombining as the material is pulled and squeezed against blades, saddle, and side walls.

This machinery is used for the manufacturing dismembers, putty, pastes, etc. It contains an equal number of forward and reversing paddles which constantly move the ingredients from one end of the mixer's tank to the other.
