AGNEE Extruder Gearboxes in double reduction parallel shaft horizontal models are intended to satisfy characteristic requirements and conditions commonly encountered in single screw extrusion process. The gear units are quite capable to transmit the high torque required for materials and also to absorb the high axial thrust load through built-in spherical roller thrust bearing.
The axial bearing housing integrally cast to accommodate suitable thrust bearings and corresponding output shafts. This catalog contains specifications, dimensions and ratings for selection of standard extruder gear drives (covering models Ex-112 to Ex-250 having ratio range of 5.6/1 to 25.6/1) against usual applications. However, mounting flange and output shaft version may be to suit the special extruder and screw shaft requirements.
The high quality, close-grained cast iron casing horizontally - split in 2 - pieces accommodates the bearings and the gear trains. Developed after an in-depth study of typical crystalliser installations, AGNEE crystalliser drive employs high efficiency spur gearing instead of conventionally used worm gearing. The overall efficiency of AGNEE crystalliser drives is better than 90% and the installed motor rating is optimally used resulting in attractive savings in power consumption.
The drive arrangement consist of electric motor a multi-stage planetary gear reducer and a single stage spur gear transmission. The electric motor is flanged-mounted to the input of the planetary gear reducer, which in turn is flange-mounted to the input of spur gear transmission. The hollow input of the spur transmission can be keyed directly on to the crystalliser shaft. The drive unit can be aligned in a convenient direction with respect to the crystalliser axis and its torque arm structure is to be bolted at the convenient place. No other additional structure, such as base frames or any couplings are required. The drive unit is completely enclosed & oil-tight. All internals including bearings are oil-lubricated, oil change is recommended only once a season.

The AGNEE Worm Gearboxes have Cast Iron Gear Case of streamlined design completely air tight, dust proof and capable of being installed in open without any cover. The Worm Shaft is made of Alloy Steel, duly hardened and tempered. The Worm Wheel is made of Chill Cast Phosphorous Bronze and teeth accurately Generated on Gear Hobbing Machines. They are supported on Extra Heavy Duty Taper Roller anti friction Bearings of ample margin of safety to allow adequate journals as well as thrust loads. Lubrication is effected by splash of oil from the sump. Thus, no special care is required except for occasional oil topping to the required level. The Gear Selection is made by comparing actual transmitted loads with catalogue ratings. It is important to realise that are based on standard set of load conditions, which invariably change for different conditions. Therefore service factor must be used to calculate a theoratical transmitted load or equivalent load, before comparing with catalogue rating. For calculating the same, apply the formula:-
