The world cross-border trade in cashew nut kernels is approximately USD 900 million or 225,000 MT of edible kernels. About 80,000 MT additionally is domestic consumption in the major growing countries.
The main consumers are USA, EU, India, and China although many other countries also use cashews. The main producers are India, Vietnam, Brazil, West African region around the Ivory Coast, and Tanzania.
Kernels are packed in sterile, hermetically sealed packs of 10kg, 25lbs or 50lbs and shipped in containers.

China has no exportable surplus, although it is a major grower.
South East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia etc.), Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan, Arab states, the Middle East, and Europe are major importers of soybean meal.
India has lower freight and quicker transit time for supply to East Asia.
