Hertel Exophthalmometer |

| This instrument is used for precise exophthalmos measurements (e.g.
exophthalmic goiter). The basis of the measurement for exophthalmos
determination using the Hertel version is the outer orbital rim
(orbital wall) and the apex of the cornea. The integral refraction
mirrors with millimeter scales for the left-hand and right-hand
measuring halves of the exophthalmometer are calibrated so that the
zero mark on the scale will be located in the plane of the resting
points of the supports. For exophthalmus measurements the supports are
placed against the two temporal orbital walls so that the orbital rim
contacts the deepest point of the supports. |

Fresnel Trial Sets |

| Item Code: 4000 These prisms fit standard trial frames. They are made of optical
quality acrylic and are lightweight. Each set includes a display box.
There are two sets available providing a full range of prisms. The
advantage of these prisms that is that a patient can wear the prism
with the trial frame while in the office to allow the patient to adapt
to the use of the prism. Patient feedback will be much better compared
to getting a quick patient reaction to the loose prism held in front of
the proposed correction.
Hand-held Fresnel Trial Sets for occlusion. Fits standard trial frames.
Optical quality. Each measures 38mm OD with a 31mm prism. (Sold only in
sets. Includes plastic storage box)

Teller Acuity Cards |

| Item Code: TAC-II Teller
Acuity Cards® have been the preeminent pediatric visual acuity test
method since they were introduced in 1986. Clinical studies have proven
that the Teller Acuity Test evaluates pediatric visual acuity with
unequaled accuracy and reliability, and Stereo Optical\'s Teller Acuity
Cards® II are among the best available for infant vision screening. The
Stereo Optical card set includes 17 cards that test pediatric visual
acuity from 20/20 to 20/3200. Stereo Optical Teller Acuity Cards® II
are printed digitally for optimum accuracy, and are laminated for
better durability. CPT codes are available
Standard
tests for visual acuity depend on verbal responses from the test
subject. This is fine for adult test subjects, but pediatric vision
testing, which is crucial to a child's healthy growth and development,
requires a different approach. Teller Acuity Cards® II can test for
pediatric visual acuity without requiring a verbal response. By judging
an infant's attention to a series of cards showing stripes of different
widths, the vision screening professional can perform accurate infant
vision screening and avoid the complex, time-consuming laboratory
testing that would otherwise be necessary.
Advantages of the Teller Acuity Test:
The Teller Acuity Test allows pediatric vision testing to be performed
conveniently in a low-stress clinical environment, rather than in a
laboratory. The Teller Acuity Test is designed specifically for easy
administration. The test takes only about five to 10 minutes to
complete for both eyes, and involves no discomfort on the part of the
patient. The Teller Acuity Test is also useful when testing adult
patients who are unable to respond verbally during screening. |

Cardiff Adult Contrast Sensitivity Test |

| Item Code: 4925 Contrast
sensitivity is the ability of the visual system to detect large but
faint targets. There are some pathological conditions that reduce
contrast sensitivity without impairing visual acuity and the test will
help in the identification of these conditions.
However,
reduced contrast sensitivity and reduced visual acuity often occur
together, so that some patients with visual impairment also have
reduced contrast sensitivity. Tests for the two functions are therefore
complementary and obtaining a measure of both will give a fuller
description of visual deficits than will one alone.
The test covers 12 Contrast levels using three cards at each per level
(36 cards total). Contrast levels start at 46% and decrease to 1%
(Sensitivity levels from 2.17 to 100.) When the Cardiff Contrast Test
is carried out at a distance of 50 cm the targets represent 1.9 cycles
per degree (or 6/90, 20/300) and at a distance of 1 m the targets
represent 3.8 cycles per degree (or 6/45, 20/150). The contrast levels
are in line with the Pelli-Robson test and study suggests comparable
results. |
