From its modest beginnings in 1981, with just one production unit, Ambattur Clothing Limited has now evolved into US $140 million group manufacturing apparel for some of the World's leading brands. An aggressive phase of expansion during the last decade has brought us to where we are today -India's leading exporters with nine production facilities in India and one at Bahrain. When the process matters, it always shows in the results. Our meticulous attention to every minute detail begins with the cutting and extends into the stitching, washing and packing stages of the process.

MANAGING CHANGE

•Entire units have been isolated for specific products, to improve
  our efficiency.
•Technical training is imparted to operators before they start
  working. Upgradation Programs and Attitudinal Workshops are   organized on a   regular basis.
•Material Handling systems (from M/s.Eton, Sweden) have been   evaluated for increase in productivity and have been found
  effective on installation.
•Automation is being investigated, constantly evaluated for cost   effectiveness and implemented by experts in upgrading Industrial   Engineering to improve efficiency.
•Sewing data formats (such as general sewing data) are being   evaluated with the aim of introducing one such database into use
  by the end of this year.
•Our team and our client's technical team review critical styles
  before   production takes off to answer all queries and remove the   bugs.
•Awareness programmes are conducted for the workers on different   themes to raise concerns on wastage, environment and costs.

Sourcing

The fabrics for our apparel are sourced from India, the Far East and Europe. Countries outside India collectively account for almost 60% of the total fabric sourced.

Wet Processing

The Company has recognized the importance of having state of the art wet processing facility to backup its world class production facility. To achieve this goal, the company has brought experts from other countries to develop washes and to manage the laundry. This is also complemented with Capital investment in buying world class washing equipments.
