AMCL was founded in 1975 as a joint venture company of ACC ltd & Leonh Herbert Machinfabrik (Thyssen group company), Germany, with 74% stake of ACC with manufacturing unit in Kalwe(Mumbai). In 1995 ACC bought over 26% equity from Leonh Herbert and AMCL become wholly owned subsidiary of ACC. In 1995 second manufacturing unit was set up at Madukkarai, Coimbotore in southern part of India. To consolidate all the operations under one roof and to take up new range of products, a modern state - of - the art manufacturing unit was set up at Butibori, Nagpur , Centre of India in the year 1997 In March, 2008 HNG (Hindustan National Glass) group purchased 100% share of AMCL with a vision of entering in the engineering business.
