Elastomeric Bridge Bearing Pads

Neoprene bridge bearing or laminated elastomeric bearing are much easier to install in bridge than compared to other types of bearing used and required nil maintence. unlike most other elastomer, Neoprene rubber under goes no marked stiffening at low temperature when the thermal Contraction of the bridge deck is at maximum such stiffening could be deleterious to bearing and/or structure.

Pot Bearing

We manufacture Pot Bearings - including fixed pot bearings, sliding guided pot bearings and free sliding pot bearing for the first time in South India at our plant in Hyderabad. Pot Bearing design is based on calculation of IRC: 83 (Part III)-2002.

The basic elements of a Pot Bearing consists of a shallow cylinder, known as pot, an elastomeric pad known as disc, a single or set of sealing rings, piston and sliding surfaces. Masonry plates and base plates are common for the installation of pot bearings, as they allow attachment of the bearings and increase the support area on the pier and abutment. Pot bearings are fixed against all translation unless they are used with a PTFE sliding surface.

Advantages of Pot bearings:
  • Pot bearings are usually recommended when bearing rotations are large, compact designs and long term servesability are required.
  • Pot bearings provides longer service life compared to elastomeric bearings.
  • Smaller in size compared to elastomeric bearings.
  • Longer maintenance time.
  • Pot bearings can sustain many cycles of very small and large rotations.
  • Economical repair as replacement of elastomer disc only.
  • Does not get effected by external atmospheric correction.

Strip Seal Expansion Joints

This item consists of furnishing and installing strip seal
expansion joints in accordance with the contract plans, this
specification, and the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Fabrication:

  • Fabrication of the strip seal expansion joint shall be performed by an AISC certified fabricator. All welding shall be performed in accordance with the state standard specifications and D-1.5 of the AWS welding code. In the event of conflict between these two authorities, the AWS welding code shall govern.
  • Welding procedures shall be submitted with shop drawings pursuant to Section IV of this specification. The welding procedures shall identify in detail the procedures to be performed in fabricating the joint.
  • All steel surfaces not embedded in concrete shall be trated for corrosion protection in accordance with the standard state specification. Backer rod shall be placed in the rail’s seal cavity if painting is required.
