amicus communications was formulated in 1997 as a partnership concern to deal with computer peripherals in the internet arena. They were the authorised exclusive distributors for world famous US Robotics modems in the state of Kerala. Promotion of internet at a time of internet revolution was indeed a big boost for the company in the initial stages. The company over the years grew in stature as well as financially and was known as a technical marketing company bringing solutions with excellent service support. They had linked DOT offices from Trivandrum to Kannur through modems for their inter office data transfers. They also pioneered the internet sharing concept which was the backbone of the internet cafes in late 1997.In between they became the authorised Regional Distributors for Powertel BOCA modems too, who were the number 2 in internet modems those days. The horizon of amicus spread over to networking and structured cabling thus providing networking solutions to a large clientele. They had by then become the certified cabling integrators for specialised structured cabling solutions. They were involved in promoting D-Link networking products when D-Link was not what it was today. As a company; the market share of D-link from then on in Kerala had shot to a position which was phenomenal. Amicus had gone ahead with a brand called ace which was new entrant to networking industry. Keeping up the track record in marketing unknown products; they, in a span of 2-3 years made ace the largest distributed networking products in the SOHO segment. ace is a brand owned by WeP Peripherals (formerly known as WIPRO e Peripherals Ltd). Amicus was adjudged the Best Distributor in India for the year 2004-05. In the year 2001-02 they embarked strongly in to the communication arena too, though they were in Key Telephone System (EPABX solutions) with Panasonic from 1999. They took up on the fax channel which is currently exploding with the range of multifunctions. They also tied up with Samsung Electronics in pushing their fax machines and laser multifunction range. With these, they command a market share of 65% + of fax multifunction segment in Kerala. Amicus who always had a strong dealer channel across Kerala from Trivandrum to Kasargod added the office automation channel to their esteemed dealer fraternity alongside the IT channel. This made them the one and only company with convergence products in Kerala . Who had a high share of market for faxes-multifunctions along with networking and structured cabling products. Currently they have full fledged branch offices at Trivandrum and Calicut with head office at Cochin. They have a full fledged service division in Cochin as well as Calicut and Trivandrum. They are the authorised Kerala service centre for Panasonic Fax machines and Samsung Multifunction products. Recently they have tied up with Panasonic yet again to promote the LCD projectors in Kerala market.They are one of the largest distributors in the state for the same.
