The Ryobi 750 installed in the second week of October can handle substrates up to 0.8mm thick. It reinforces the packaging specialist's line-up of presses consisting of a five-colour Komori, a two-colour Sakurai, a single-colour Heidelberg arid Altosh UV dryers.
Amolraj Printers looked at other names, but the factors which lilted the scales in favour of Ryobi 750 were its "very, very competitive" price tag and "quick" delivery of the press.
The family-run Amolraj Printers is managed by Rajas Dhote, a UK trained print technologist along with Amol Dhote, a UK trained management specialist and father Kishore. All are directors of the company.
Rajas said: "We had to increase capacity and quality and needed another press to handle the amount of work coming in, in quick time." He added: "Ryobi was the only one who promised us delivery within the next four months of placing the order,"
The company is now looking to double its sales this year, "The new kit will certainly help," said Rajas.
Besides laminating and cutting machines, the company has a Bobst folder gluer in its post-press armoury. The prepress services are presently outsourced, but the company
plans to buy a CTP soon, which will bring the entire pressroom activity in-house.
The company was established in 1998, .and the reason for opening a unit in Nashik according to Kishore was "the policy of sales tax exemption" extended by the government to entrepreneurs wanting to set up unite in the MIDC area. "We decided to take the advavantage," he said.
The 50-staff company produces pharmaceutical, cosmetic and perfume packaging products mostly UV cartons which amounts to 65% of their supplies to SEZ units in India. It also exports its products to the US and the UAE.
Besides the 15,000 sq ft unit in Nashik, the firm has two other units - Nuclear Offset Printers in Mumbai and Global Printers in Botswana, South Africa.
