Amsar was founded by two scientists with Post Graduate degrees in chemistry from England and Doctoral degrees from Switzerland. Both these individuals then began gaining experience at pharmaceutical giants such as Sandoz and Pfizer, reaching senior positions within the R&D/Manufacturing departments of these companies.

With this solid background they founded Amsar at a time when traditional medicine was being swept away by the newly emerging drug industry that was given a mandate to address a recently independent India's health problems. Saddled with archaic methodologies, an immovable mind set, lack of validation and standards, Ayurveda and all the other forms of traditional medicine faced a serious threat to their survival. This is where Amsar began to reverse this slide.
