Circlips/Retaining Rings

We are offering Circlips. There are two basic types: internal and external, referring to whether they are fitted into a tube or over a shaft.

Internal Circlips

We offer wide range of circlip, which is a type of fastener consisting of a semi-flexible metal ring with open ends which can be snapped into place, into a machined groove on a dowel pin or other part to permit rotation but to prevent lateral movement. There are two basic types: internal and external, referring to whether they are fitted into a tube or over a shaft. Circlips are often used to secure pinned connections.

External Circlips

The most common form of axially fitted circlips for shafts with grooves.

Constructed as curved beams of uniform strength, the radial width is reduced towards the free ends so that a constantly round shape is maintained throughout continuous use. This form of circlip often used in assemblies subjected to strong centrifugal forces, is also secure against high rotational speeds. Lugs with holes are provided for rapid fitting or removal with circlip pliers.

E-Type Circlips

The most common form of radially fitted circlips for shafts with grooves. Provide a large shoulder on a relatively small shaft diameter. This range can be supplied stacked on rods for use with applicators and dispensers for rapid installation, thus resulting in sharply reduced assembly costs. Only the groove size is critical with this type of circlip, the shaft diameter can be varied widely.

Snap Rings

They come shaped as round, square or rectangle sections and can work internally or externally, depending on their gap configuration.

Wire snap rings can be used for shafts or bores. External snap rings can be used for bearing retention. Arcon ring keeps these custom wire snap rings in stock for your convenience. If you do not see what you need, we can manufacture a wire snap ring in short run or high volume with surprisingly fast turn around.
