Decorative Shrink Labels are one of the best things to happen in the world of packaging for over the counter products. No more one needs old paper labels for their bottles, containers. They are not just cost effective when compared to paper labels but also provide high gloss and unique 360 degree coverage for the container. It can also have a matt finish, as per requirement. They can be full body sleeve or half body label.

It is also very useful for providing security against seal tampering when used as cap-seal on cap of the container or bottle, or if full body sleeve is applied which seals the cap inside it. Pre-perforation can also be provided just below the cap area, if full body sleeve is applied. This helps the customer to cut only the top of the label and not the complete label and thus the bottom part of the label having brand name and instructions stays on the container forever.

Shrink sleeve labels can either be applied onto the containers/bottles manually by hand or can be applied through a automatic applicator machine. In case it is applied by machine then the labels are supplied in roll form having perforation between the labels, otherwise in case it is applied manually then it is supplied in cut piece form. After the labels are applied onto the containers/bottles then they are passed through a heat tunnel on a conveyer belt where it shrinks and takes the shape of the container.

Shrink labels are generally applied onto Plastic Pet Bottles, HDPE Containers, Glass Bottles, Almunium Cans, Composite cans, Tin cans.

Self Adhesive Labels are one of the oldest types of labels available. The most common ones are the Paper Self Adhesive Labels or the Laminated Paper Self Adhesive Labels. They are mostly used in Pharma and food industry for application on bottles and containers and it can also be applied on cartons as well. Stretch Label is a Polyethylene Sleeve manufactured from a proprietary plastic film that adapts to the surface of any contour container without the need of applying adhesives, replacing the direct printing over it. It is a new labeling concept that facilitates the container recycling, since it does not require complex processes to be applied over it.

Stretch Sleeves are ready to use labels which once applied to the container/bottle doesn’t any other process/material to give it final finishing. Shrink Labels needs heat to make it shrink as per the containers contour. Sticker labels and conventional paper labels needs adhesives. Even Wrap Around Labels needs hot melt adhesives.

The label is stretched ovr the container and when it is in the proper location, it is released. Once released, it will fit snug and form to the contours of the container. Simple! No costly adhesives, no high electricity bills because of using Heat Tunnels. Moreover, the basic cost of label is also cheaper than Shrink Labels.

Stretch Sleeves also just like Shrink Labels allow for 360 degrees of graphics. It is a perfect choice as it is more environmental friendly due to the recyclable nature of PE. Also it is generally printed on CI Flexo which is also more eco-friendly way of printing.

Wrap around labels literally wrap around the bottle/container and are secured with hot melt glue at the end. The substrate that is used is Biaxially Oriented PolyPropylene , commonly called BOPP.

It is most commonly used for Mineral Water and Aerated Drink packaging because of its low cost and high production capabilities when using high speed label applicator machines.

Although the label costs less but if we take into account the cost of adhesive then its cost is quite comparable to other label types like PE Stretch Sleeve Labels or even Shrink Sleeve Labels.

Despite all the pros and cons, it is widely accepted label type.
