Condensate Polishing Unit![]() In steam based power generation plants or combined cycle power plants, or in tire or paper manufacturing industry, stream releases the energy for manufacturing or generating electricity. Once the steam give up heat it condensate back into the water or condensate. As steam Condenses, it pick ups an amount of contaminations from its environment. These contaminants are vary from the sources, where steam is used and it must be completely removed before the re-use of condensate. Filtration Plants![]() Filtration is the process of removal of suspended solids, Precipitated irons, removing turbidity etc. Filters are designed for passing water usually downward, through a media where the suspended solids gets trapped and removed. Adsorption and starving are the general filtration mechanisms involved in the removal of suspended solids. Different types of filter media are used to remove suspended solids, the most common is sand, but anthracite is also widely used. When a coarse layer of very light weight material like anthracite is placed on top of the sand in a normal down-flow filter is used, the coarser suspended particle gets filtered in the anthracite layer and the finer particles in the sand layer, resulting in a less turbid water. This two type of filtration leads to classification of filtration into surface filtration as in the former case and in-depth filtration as in the later case. Ultra Filtration Plants![]() The ultra filtration plants offer the highest level of purifications means high water productivity. Reverse Osmosis Plant![]() The success of the reverse osmosis technology has been due mostly to the economics of its operation and to its simplicity. Compared to other salt-removal technologies, it is relatively inexpensive to purchase and to operate. It requires neither an energy-intensive phase change such as distillation nor a large volume of strongly acidic and caustic chemicals. the basic process of reverse osmosis uses a pump and a semi permeable membrane. The pump provides the driving force. The semi permeable membrane passes water in preference to the solute that is dissolved in the water, thus the majority of solute is left behind to form a more concentrated stream. The process of reverse osmosis is not the same as filtration. It is more likely that water and smaller-molecular-weight organics are able to diffuse through the membrane polymer by bonding between segments of the polymer's chemical structure. Dissolved salts and larger-molecular-weight organics will not permeate the membrane because of their size and charge characteristics.
