Meher Bijlani, proprietor of Artquest, has pioneered innovative and highly successful shows such as "Kitchen Art" at indigo restaurant, "Street Furniture" "Art ki Taza Khabar" & "Sadak Chaap" at the Kalaghoda Art Festival, "Lamps and Cabinets," "Utility Art," "Christian Art & Icons" etc. & several painting shows including a fund raiser for CRY (Child Relief and You). The concept behind "Recycled Art" is to source day-to-day and unusual objects, restore these if necessary, commission them to an artist, and convert them into one-of-kind, signed works of art. A few of the Art Objects that Artquest has "created" include: painted benches, cupboards, cabinets, lamps, CD racks, boxes, trays, kettles, coasters, fashion accessories such as jewellery (bangles, lockets), bags, the list is endless. Some of the more unusual objects have included a Postbox (converted into a laundry bin) a Haathgaadi (into a bench) a Golagadi (into a dining table), a Bhelpuri stand (into a mini bar), and even a car. The final objects are a result of a joint effort between Meher and the artist. Meher's strengths lie in sourcing, restoration and visualization of objects. She then communicates with the appropriate artist, who then translates it into the final art object. Clients also approach Artquest to source and create furniture and other art objects. Artquest's products are affordably priced and enhance the homes and work spaces of people of all ages and from all walks of life. |
