Carmecel - p (cc) is the trade name for croscarmellose sodium manufactured by the company. It is a white creamish granular powder and a superior tablet disintegrator the superiority arising due to its unique chemistry.
In wet granulation
In most cases, carmecel-p(cc) should be added during the wet granulation process and to the dry granules prior to compression. This improves drug dissolution by taking full advantage of its wicking and swelling properties.
The addition of carmecel -p(cc) during the wet mixing phase results in an intimate mixture of carmecel-p(cc), drug, binder and filler within the granular matrix. This intragranular distribution of carmecel-p(cc) allows it to break down the granules by swelling and exposes greater surface area of the drug to gastric fluids.
Adding carmecel-p(cc) during dry blending phase integrates carmecel-p(cc) into the extragranular structure of the tablet, where its fibrous nature, wicking ability and swelling properties carry fluid throughout the tablet to cause rapid disintegration.
This combined intragranular and extragranular distribution of carmecel-p(cc) optimizes its functionality.

This duel functionality translates into superior disintegration characteristics at very low use levels compared to other super desintegrants.
