Alfacel -ph is the trade name for microcrystalline cellulose (mcc) manufactured by the company. Alfacel - ph is made from purified and partially depolymerised alfa cellulose relatively free from both organic and inorganic contaminants. It is insoluble in water, dilute acids, common organic solvents and oils. Partially soluble with swelling in dilute alkali, fine, white, odourless, edible and metabolically inert powder. It has excellent water absorptive, swelling and dispersion properties which make it useful for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations, particularly tablets and capsules.

When using alfacel-p only a simple three step procedure of weighing, mixing and compressing is required to prepare a wide variety of tablets. Because of its high chemical purity and low moisture content, improved chemical and colour stability of the tablets can result with the use of alfacel-p.
