Automotive Equipment Diagnostic, AC, Emission SPARK PLUG CLEANER AND TESTER Application : ELGI Spark Plug Cleaner and Tester incorporates all features and devices necessary for efficient cleaning of the spark plug, and testing the same under simulated conditions prevailing in internal combustion engines. The ELGI Spark Plug Cleaner and Tester consists of a abrasive unit for cleaning the plugs and an electrical testing unit for testing the plugs under high voltage (12 KV) and higher compression. As the testing unit check the plug at the high ignition voltage and at appropriate air compression, faulty plugs can be identified and eliminated. There are three ranges given in the dial indicator of the pressure gauge. If the blueish spark appears in the ?Green? Range, the spark plug is good. If it appears in the ?Yellow? range, the park plug is fair and can be used for some time. If it appears in the ?Red? range, the spark plug is poor and is to be discarded. No spark indicates a cracked insulator inside the plug shell or a creep discharge along some crack on a carbonised portion of the plug. ELGI Spark Plug Cleaner and Tester should be connected to a compressed air system that gives a maximum pressure of 12.5 kg/cm2. A minimum of 7 kg/cm2 pressure is essential for cleaning the plugs. If high pressure is not available, a separate air booster pump can be fitted to boost the air pressure to 12.5 kg/cm2 the pressure needed for charging of plug chambers.
