BA(Hons) in Business Management |
| What is new about our BA (Hons) in Business Management. Traditionally Business Schools all over the world have been producing business graduates who are either functional specialist or generalists. Functional specialists such as degree holders in Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Management take on jobs as marketers, financial analyst, human resource experts respectively. Although the specialist degree goes in depth academically, it does not expand the knowledge of a particular industry. Generalist degree holders from programmes such as the BA (Hons) in Business Administration, BA(Hons) in Business Studies on the other hand, often complete with functional specialists for the same jobs. However, the latter are jack of all trade and master of none. They get to learn a bit of all management issues but unable to intellectually stimulate decision making due to lack of in-depth knowledge of any specific subject. PhD (Management) Specializing in Marketing, Finance, HRM, TQM, & Leadership |
The normal period of study is 36 months for full-time students and 48 to 72 months for part-time students. In year one, students are required to undertake a structured and intensive research training programme; part-time students can spread this over two years. Its purpose: to expose the student to core research skills such as qualitative and quantitative data analysis, research design and data collection. In addition, students are introduced to the philosophical underpinnings of research within the social sciences. In subsequent years of study, students undertake, with the guidance of their academic supervisor, research in their chosen field of management.
