Initially, the focus of the company was to cater books in the field of engineering and technological references. In the year 1976 on 4th day of April, Mr. Anuttam Mallick, the beloved son of the then proprietor, late Ajit Kumar Mallick, joined this company to assist his father. On his wise suggestion and innovative ideas, Mr. Anuttam Mallick started importing of books in the year 1978 in the form of illustrated promotionals and coffee table reference books. In the year 1991 on May 3rd, upon the advice of his respected father, Mr. Anuttam Mallick took charge of the business completely. Since then there was no looking back and the upswing in business followed year after year till today when the company became one of the largest Importer and Distributor of foreign books in INDIA. Presently the company is dealing with over 6000 titles under *28 subject categories imported from **9 countries and ***83 publishing houses. The books are marketed and distributed through retail method to public and institutions all over India. It has its branch offices in Guwahati, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Jamshedpur and Residential Representatives in Shillong, Dibrugarh, Kurseong, Andaman, Siliguri, Allahabad, Lucknow, Puri and many more places. But the scope of attaining new height in book trade seemed reducing as with the changing of society due to globalisation, the overall habit of reading more books by readers were reducing. This area of concern led to new thoughts to a mission developed to propagate the subject at a mass level. As a result 'Book Palace Publishers and Distributors Pvt. Ltd.' was incorporated in the year 2005 by Mr. Anuttam Mallick and his wife Mrs. Rakhi Mallick, solely with the mission to popularise books through unique techniques by marketing the titles available with - THE NEW BOOK CORNER. Extensive research followed in the following two years on the operational field, network plans, expertise assembling and fixing professional goals for the days ahead. Finally in the month of September 2007 'Book Palace' started its meaningful journey with its sky rocketing aims. |
