Burnishing Machine

Our assortment of hydraulic centreless OD Burnishing Machines can be used for burnishing outer diameters. Based on the pre-burnishing surface finish conditions mirror like surface finish, normally around 0.1Ra, can be easily achieved. We have also achieved 0.05Ra in certain applications based on pre-burnishing surface finish. However, the final surface finish value depends upon various parameters like surface roughness before burnishing, hardness of the material etc. This centreless OD Burnishing Machines can be used for both plunge and through rolling of cylindrical parts. As this is a centre less design there is no limitation on the length to be burnished. Various types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials in soft stage can be burnished with our Hydraulic Centreless OD Burnishing Machine. Plunge rolling can be done for the part whose seats or races are not greater than the width of the smoothing rolls; long parts can be smooth rolled by providing suitable support arrangement. Automatic part loading attachments can be integrated in the machine according to the job specification.

Burnishing operation can be performed directly after CNC Turning or after grinding operation. In most of the cases grinding operation has been removed by introducing CNC Turning followed by Burnishing with OD Burnishing machine. The machine structure is robust and all the functions of the machine are controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller. We have provided necessary safety mechanisms in order to safe guard the electrical parts of the machine. The main motor and Coolant system are accommodated in the base of the machine; the cylinder is vertically mounted in the column in which the smoothing roll arrangements are designed. This provides the necessary burnishing force which can be changed depending on the diameter of the job. The electrical systems including the control panel are accommodated in the column. The drive roll assembly is placed horizontally on the top of the base. The hydraulic power pack system is placed aside of the machine which is external.
Our machine is highly suitable for medium and high volume applications in areas such as automobile shock absorber shafts, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Piston Rods, Pump Shafts and other applications where high surface finish is required.

  Max. Diameter: 60mm
• Model EM0640: Min.  Diameter: 6mm
  Max. Diameter: 40mm

The outer diameter burnishing machine is extensively used for mass production of internal burnishing operation. The minimum diameter that can be burnished in Model IDPN-0540 is 5mm and the maximum 40 mm. The spindle feed stroke and the return rapid stroke is pneumatically operated and the spindle is rotated with a belt drive. By altering the belt position in the cone pulley arrangement, three different spindle speeds can be selected. The spindle feed can be altered by changing the air flow and the stroke length of the spindle can be adjusted with the help of limit switches provided in the pneumatic cylinder. The outer diameter burnishing machine consists of a pillar on which the precision spindle mechanism and motor are mounted on a horizontal column.

Salient features of our Internal Diameter Burnishing Machine (Model: IDPN-0540) are:

We manufacture portable burnishing machines which is a compact design of outer diameter burnishing machines used for burnishing minimum OD 2mm and Maximum OD 30MM in horizontal loading model(PT-H-0230). The minimum and maximum burnishing diameters differ for other models PT-V-0225 and PT-V-HST. We offer separate designs for burnishing plain shafts and shafts with shoulders or stepped shafts. Separate Burnishing Tool kits are selected and mounted on the precision spindle arrangement based on the job size and each size requires a separate burnishing tool kit for burnishing.

Various jobs with close tolerances are burnished with this machine and the burnishing operation is done after grinding operation. This portable burnishing machines is highly suitable for standard type of jobs such as parts of home and office appliances like mixer, fan parts, miniature motor shafts and others. Based on pre-burnishing conditions the achievable surface finish values are between 0.1 to 0.3Ra. However, the final surface finish values depends upon various parameters like roughness before burnishing, hardness of the material, type of coolant used speeds and feeds along with other parameters.

The structure of the machine is robust and the main motor is accommodated in the sliding base of the machine. The spindle and the burnishing mechanism are arranged horizontally on the other side. The spindle is driven by a mechanical variable speed mechanism that is mounted on the motor shaft and machine with VFD is also available. Step less variation of the rpm is attained in the spindle with this mechanism. The electrical systems including the control panel are housed on the topside of the machine for ease of operation.

The burnishing kit is replaceable and the required size kits can be assembled quickly which reduces the change over time for different sizes. Diameter adjustment mechanism is designed in the burnishing mechanism so the burnishing diameter can be set according to the component diameter. The burnishing pressure can also be controlled either by increasing or decreasing the diameter.
