Enhanced safety if properly positioned: in contrast to commercially available active and passive safety systems, the electronically controlled two-way and four-way sensor headrest can find the optimal headrest position by means of capacitive sensors.

Integrated electronics analyze this data and the headrest is individually adjusted with millimeter precision to the proper position in terms of height and distance. Sensorest® can be used for all vehicle segments – in both power and manually adjustable seat systems.

The effect: the risk of whiplash trauma and injuries to the spine can be reduced significantly.

Controlling the amount of cooling air electronically improves vehicle aerodynamics and helps bring about CO2 reduction. The supply of cooling air is regulated by variable ventilation blades adapted to the actual need. These close at high speeds and ensure optimal vehicle air circulation.

A relaxed drive and safe arrival: the controldevice for adjusting the 2/4 way lumbar support in the seat structures can also include an optional massage function for the lumbar area

We have used our expertise in headrest-adjusting technology to develop a display screen adjuster. Thanks to intelligent kinematics, the screen can be completely integrated into the dashboard and, when required, it can be operated at the touch of a button.

Further advantages: robust design and small dimensions in favor of greater design freedom in the cockpit.

Accessing and exiting a car more easily: the mechanical infinite door-check Variostop® holds the vehicle door in any position, even if the car is standing on an incline. The benefits: reliable holding force but easy to move.

An optional sensor-aided collision-detecting feature protects the door against damage. Variostop® can replace conventional door-integrated systems without any design change. Further advantages: lower investment expenditure, less package space and weight. Moreover, we are working on the electrification of the door-opening and closing function.

Proven a million times over: our door electronics with CAN- or LIN-BUS control all essential door functions like the window regulator, mirror, latch and sunroof.

They ensure the functionality of door components and fit in any door architecture; through standardized, scalable interfaces they can be integrated into our door systems.

Power quarter windows cater for pleasant air circulation in the vehicle. Our symmetrically used drive-unit is suitable for different car lines and is the lightest drive on the market.

The Easy-Entry function provides a high level of comfort in three-door cars. Using one hand, the manual seat can be moved into the more foremost position facilitating entry into the rear of the car. When it is folded a memory block is placed on the lower rail, saving the last seat setting.

With regard to the EasyEntry function in power seats, the speed of adjustment is double as high.

The power seat-belt-carrier Brose EasyBelt® facilitates buckling up. The functionality is based on a tooth-shaft gear-drive with a small motor.

The design with its own patents enables use even where there is little space, since the required travel range of the seat-belt-carrier is achieved with 15° twist and curve in the tooth shaft, which minimizes the packing space required between seat and door.

The feature's space-saving integration in the side panel ensures that the look of the interieur in its entirety is not impaired

Annually we supply our customers with approx. 1.5 million power adjusters for headrests. Key characteristics distinguishing our new development generation include less weight, high adjustment forces and lower package requirements.

Incorrectly-set headrests pose a safety risk and are often the reason for whiplash injuries occurring in rear-end collisions. With its new kind of 4-way headrest Sensorest® Brose provides a solution where the setting is optimally suited to each respective car occupant.

Tried and tested a million times over: our manual seat height adjuster has a very precise mechanical gear-unit in an extremely compact design.

Requiring little adaptation, it can be integrated to fit individual customer interfaces.

Whether motor or complete ventilator – we offer customer-specific HVAC blower solutions, drawing on our experience, as world market leader, of having supplied more than 250 million pieces globally. The new motor family has allowed us to establish a standard which is intended to meet every customer requirement.

Hallmarks of our HVAC blowers include lownoise operation, high efficiency and durability. Through the use of brushless motors, we also achieve a high level of energy efficiency: about one gram of carbon dioxide can be saved per kilometer.

In addition to a higher level of efficiency, our brushless motors provide significantly improved electromagnetic compliance compared to conventional motors. This is an important pre-condition for interference-free use of digital services in the vehicle.

Our rail profiles enable the universal use of manual and power seat adjusters. The gear is integrated into the rails of the power length seat adjusters.

Through the use of high-strength steel we can achieve benefits in terms of package and weight; this is also influenced by the use of laser welding technology

Ergonomically designed seats mean a relaxed drive: our 4-way lumbar adjuster’s travel range enables optimal adjustment of the backrest contour to the car occupant’s back.

Standard components permit an economical combination of different functions in the seat adjuster. The basic length, height and tilt adjustments are possible.

The seat cushion can also be extended, a further comfort enhancement. The seat adjuster can be supplied as a manual, power or partially-powered version

The comfort car drivers expect and the subsequent demand for power adjusters is constantly on the increase. That’s why we have transferred the principle of modular design to our seat adjuster motors. The Brose comfort seat can, for example, offer up to 18 electrically controlled adjustment possibilities – from basic functions such as the length adjuster to comfort functions like the lumbar support.

The new generation of our motors is 30 percent lighter resulting from weight-optimized design and the use of rare-earth magnets. We produce power-related motor categories ranging from 9 to 25 watts and integrate them into our seat systems.

Our steering-wheel adjuster with its power clamping feature provides enhanced comfort. At the mere touch of a button, the steering wheel can be adjusted to the desired position. The cord actuator makes virtually no noise.

In line with the principle “less is more”, this drive technology allows us to dispense with elaborate mechanics. This has an impact on weight: our power adjuster mechanism is approx. 800 grams lighter and requires less space than commercially available solutions.

Variable interior: rear seats are today part of a multifunctional vehicle interior, necessitating different functionalities and individual concept solutions: for example, folding functions and comfort adjustments for the second and third row. Length and tilt adjustments are possible with our rear seat systems, which can be folded, repositioned or completely removed.

The electronic “anti-trap feature” for window regulators (6th generation) has, in addition to the express up comfort function and central closing/opening, a safety function which detects obstacles: the closing window stops and reverses. The electronics are mounted directly on the drive unit, thus reducing the wiring required.

Standardization through systems: our integrated window regulator electronics with a universal interface for different motor concepts provide cost benefits for our customers. Ongoing further development of these drive concepts results in optimization regarding efficiency, processes, package and weight.

The new laser-welded backframe structure provides benefits in terms of weight, costs and strength.

Our new recliner generation for adjusting the backrest is easy to integrate due to its compact design and can be used in both manually and power adjustable backrests.

This step in development enables us to develop and supply the entire seat structure from one source.

Precise, safe and fast: depending on the position, an electronic unit with CAN-bus controls the speed of opening and closing the liftgate. Two drives and a power cinching unit can be actuated.

The indirect anti-trap protection reacts to obstacles during both opening and closing. The electronic-unit has input channels for up to 4 switches and 3 collision detection sensors, and analyzes data within fractions of a second.

The benefits of our door system with a plastic functional carrier plate and integrated window regulator guide rail include lower weight and costs.

Our new plastic door system equipped with the side-door closure-system Unilatch® can achieve weight savings of up to 5 kilograms per vehicle.

We have developed a new platform for the rear latch which requires fewer components than its predecessor. The benefits: the highly standardized system can be easily adapted to fit individual interfaces, geometries and screw-on bracket; the different variants for trunk lids or liftgates – with or without additional functions like cinching – are compatible.

Hallmarks are excellent acoustics, lower weight and costs. The high level of standardization significantly reduces application effort.

The latch module comprises all essential components – latch, inner door handle as well as all other relevant electrical and mechanical connections combined into one sub-assembly. Through the integration of different functions such as the window guide, the number of components can be reduced as well.

The fact that the latch module is a pre-tested unit simplifies and shortens installation at the automaker’s assembly line.

We annually equip 650,000 power seatbelt retractors with our fast-responding motors: in the event of a pre-crash situation, the seatbelt tightens by 80 millimeters within 120 milliseconds to minimize the risk of injury in an accident.

The motor design has been further developed; it now has a single-stage, low-noise gear.

The Brose sunroof actuator with it’s compact design is based on the Brose window regulator motors.

Using different electronics located on the gear housing, comfort and safety functions such as power opening/closing at the touch of a button as well as an anti-trap feature are possible.

The capacitive switch for liftgates and trunk lids makes loading and unloading vehicles with electrically operated liftgates and trunk lids more convenient. A simple foot movement is all that is needed to open and close the trunk.

A capacitive sensor below the bumper responds to a simple foot movement and passes this information to the keyless entry control unit in the vehicle. This checks the key holder's authority, and transmits the signal to the trunk lid control unit to automatically open or close the lid. Nuisance factors such as moisture on the bumper or passers-by who approach the vehicle do not affect the operation.

Extremely flexible: the side-door closure system Unilatch® is a compact, robust latch, approx. 60 percent smaller than conventional models. Convenient and low-noise. And so light that weight savings of around 1kg can be achieved in a four-door car.

Another highlight is the unique clutching mechanism. It can be easily adapted to fit all customer interfaces. Modules such as external cinching or power opening can be added to extend functionality.

We supply a highly-integrated lightweight door system for the Porsche Panamera with an aluminum functional carrier plate and magnesium frame – coupled with the broadest range of system features to date. A power sunblind has, for the first time, been integrated into the rear door systems. The door structure is 25 percent lighter than comparable doors in this segment.

By reducing the thickness of the steel carrier plate, we have managed to achieve weight savings of approx. 15 percent compared to commercially available solutions.

Whether steel, plastic or aluminum, the concept the customer opts for depends on the respective intended use. We are able to cover the entire material spectrum for functional carrier plates and to meet a variety of requirements efficiently.

Optimized complete system from one source: integrated electronics for HVAC blowers interacting with brushless motors and customized software ensure a high degree of efficiency and a greatly minimized noise level.

Interface reduction: the carbon brushes for conventional cooling fan motors have been integrated into the electronics unit. Interfaces have subsequently been reduced achieving a compact design. Efficient operation is ensured by the motor controlled by semi-conductors.

System integration: we have completely integrated the electronic control-unit for cooling fan modules into the brushless motor, leading to a reduction in components and ensuring optimal functionality. The heat generated in an operating condition is absorbed directly via the motor housing.

The new generation of our window regulator motors is smaller, lighter and quieter. Through the increased use of plastics instead of steel as well as the consistent reduction in components, we have significantly lowered weight. We can offer power-optimized drive concepts for the respective purpose – front or rear door.

Optionally, we can supply integrated electronics which we develop and produce in-house.

To date we have supplied more than 800 million window regulator systems to over 40 automakers. We currently equip approximately 200 vehicle models with our products.

The acquisition of the drives business enabled us not only to logically complement our product portfolio but also to enhance our value chain: window regulator motors are now produced in-house. This competence rounds off our decades of experience in the development and production of window regulator systems and electronics.

Our system modular design for mechanics, electrics and electronics enables swift and cost-effective solutions for cross-customer and cross-platform applications.

Through this consistent use of standardized components, we can save on investments, achieve the greatest economies of scale and cut piece costs, providing benefits to our customers as well.

We can offer a power range from 130 to 350 watts with our EBS motors. Four and six pole motors are used to enhance power density. More than 10 million units produced annually testify to our competence in this product segment.

To achieve economies of scale, we are continuing to press ahead with the standardization of our components; moreover, our modular design provides cost benefits for our customers.

We develop microcontrollers for window regulator and door control units which are tailored exactly to this area of application. The latest development of this product family is significantly smaller than comparable solutions. It has a LIN-bus interface and can be programmed directly in the vehicle.

Due to its flexibility, it can be used for new functional areas – for instance, to control the sunblind.

Our electric power steering motors are supplied in different performance levels. Requiring very little adaptation effort, they can be used in all vehicle categories. Rare-earth magnets ensure high power density.

The essential advantage of electric power steering compared to a conventional hydraulic solution: it is only activated if required. This saves energy, reduces fuel consumption and cuts CO2 emissions by up to 7.5 grams per kilometer.

Lowering the glass of the rear side-window in coupés and convertibles requires complex movements.

Our solution: the track-guided window regulator. With this system and its respective electronics and software, Brose is today the only manufacturer able to meet all safety specifications. Moreover, weight savings of 40 percent and package space benefits result from its sandwich design.

The electric parking brake is an alternative to the conventional handbrake. Apart from additional safety, it offers more comfort as it is easier to use, requires much less space and meet the central requirements which automakers today expect car components to fulfill.

Equipped with our actuator, the parking brake system enables the parked car to stay safely, effective and comfortably positioned and allows effortless hill starts.

Our cooling fan modules ensure the optimal supply of cooling air and engine temperature under all climatic conditions. The principle of modular design creates a high level of flexibility: as the only supplier, we can meet all customer requirements by offering the most appropriate motor ranging from 80 to 1,000 watts - without any adjustments necessary to the shroud.

The hallmarks of our brushless drives include less weight, high durability, low noise and high efficiency. We are the world market leader in electronically controlled cooling fan modules.

In the case of automated manual transmissions, an electronically controlled gear change ensures an optimal shifting point. This helps reduce consumption and subsequently CO2 emissions. We further developed our drive train actuators, making them even smaller and more efficient.

Their brushless design has been developed to ensure high durability. Another advantage of the new drive generation is its high degree of standardization and our many years of experience in series delivery

Loading and unloading a car more comfortably: our spindle drive replaces the conventional gas strut but uses the same connection. It is about 20 percent lighter than conventional solutions.

The electric spindle can also be used with a stall function. Interacting with the keyless-entry function, the liftgate can be opened through a capacitive sensor below the bumper beam. A simple foot movement is all that is needed to open and close the trunk.

We supply manual and power versions of our front seat structures, which, depending on individual customer specifications, can be configured with up to eleven different adjustments. A high level of comfort however does not necessarily mean more weight.

Through power-adapted motors coupled with new materials and innovative production processes we can provide our customers with weight benefits, which make a power seat structure just as light as a manual one.
