Gear Coupling
Gear couplings are used to couple two shafts. gear couplings are noted for their compact design, easy installation and high torque density. They are the economical choice for large torque and bore applications as well as the choice for limited space installations or high speed applications.
A Complete coupling is made up of two cast iron or steel flanges and a number of steel pins fitted with nylon bushes, The drive is transmitted by means of the pins which are rigidly bolted to one flange and inserted in clearance holes in the other. There are no projecting bolts and the assembled coupling forms a compact unit. The coupling is easily disconnected by withdrawing the pins either shaft can be removed without disturbing the other
