Born 1931. Education and experience: Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, 1945-1949; Government Institute of Arts (First Class First), Dhaka (now Bangladesh), 1953. Founder-member, Society of Contemporary Artists and Calcutta Painters. Principal, Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, 1976-1980; Member, Advisory Committee for Fine Arts, Government of West Bengal; Council Member, Democratic Writers' and Artists' Association, West Bengal. Exhibitions: 1962 and 1963 Arts and Prints Gallery, Kolkat; 1963 Patna; 1974 Birla Academy of Art and Culture; 1974 retrospective, Alliance Francaise, Kolkata; 1982 Miniature Exhibition, Paris; 1986 retrospective, Art Heritage, New Delhi; 1989 Paintings on Indian Music, Gallery 88, Kolkata; 1992 Art Heritage, New Delhi; also in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2003. Commissions: Commissions include mural painting for Goodyear's Kolkata office; mural and stained glass for Kolkata Airport; glazed-tile mural for Youth Centre, Kolkata; mural painting for Port Commissioners' Office, Kolkata.
