Born 1934. Education and experience: Diploma in Sculpture and Modelling, government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, 1956. Head of the Sculpture Department, Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, Kolkata, 1958-59. Principal, Indian college of Art and Draftsmanship, Kolkata, 1964-69. Reader, Department of Sculpture, Kala-Bhavan, Visva-Bharati, 1986-1999. Visiting Fellow, Department of Plastic Art, Faculty of Visual Art, Banaras Hindu University, 1990. Invited to Yugoslavia and London for illustrated talks on sculpture projects. Awarded Abanindra Puroskar by the Government of West Bengal in 2005. Collections: National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal; Birla Academy of Art and Culture; Government of West Bengal; Delhi Art Gallery, and many individual and institutional collectors.
