The Cross Hatch Cutter helps in making an assessment of the adhesion resistance of coatings to separation from substrates at the time when a right-angled lattice pattern is cut into the coating and gets penetrated into the substrate. Using cross cuts, coating is cut into small squares. It reduces lateral bonding of the coating. The adhesion is assessed as per ISO, ASTM or customer specifications. The coating thickness is used to identify the size of the cutter used. The test is in conformation with ASTM D 3359, BS/DIN EN, BS 3900:E6 and ISO 2409. Cross hatch cutter kit is provided with a carrying case, adhesive tape, cleaning brush and magnifier.
Features:
- The 1mm cutter is perfectly suited for coatings under 60 microns
- 2 mm cutter is ideal for coatings over 60 microns.
- Cross hatch cutter with 1 mm and 11 teeth is also available
- Each cross hatch cutter is provided with 6 cutting blades spaced either 1mm or 2mm apart
- One cutting pass makes 6 cuts in the coating,
- A second pass at 90° makes a square lattice pattern.
- Apply special adhesive tape over cut section
- Within 5 minutes remove tape.
- Classify the cut area as per the relevant national standard classification guide.
- The cutting blades are ground onto 6 cutting sides
- If one cutting side becomes blunt, there are 5 other cutting sides to use
- It gives a 1/3 rd extra life as compared to conventional 4 sided models.
