Lustrecarb is sulphur free carbon additive to Green sand in ferrous foundries to improve casting finish in sand casting. This product has a balanced quantum of carbon and volatiles and very low ash. When binders and hot metal is poured the carbon forms a graphitic film and prevents sand intrusion on to the mould. This ensures excellent and smooth finish for the grey iron. Lustrous carbon is a blend of hydrocarbons. The addition to foundry sand is approximately 2% to new sand and 0.5% to return sand by weights.
