Carman School

Established in the year 1961, Carman School Dehradun, India came into existence as one of the most prominent educational institute for grooming student's personality and their overall development. This educational institution is the outcome of the tireless efforts of Mr. I.L.G. Mann and Ms. J.A.M. Carbery. ‘Perseverance is Success' is not only our motto rather it has become a part of our Carman family.
 
The school is located firstly in the lush green Doon valley, popular for the environment of education. With our continuous endeavor, we have expanded our presence in Shyampur, Premnagar, Dehradun. Third branch is opened in a village near Herbertpur, a satellite township of Dehradun approximately 45Km from the clock tower in Dehradun. It was started under name "Carman School - Kunja Grant" and is run under the efficient guidance of the Principal and her group of trained staff.

Carman School is a co-educational boarding schools and for proper discipline certain rules and regulations have to be followed in all aspects failing which a child can also be suspended for a certain period of time or even expelled with immediate effect.
Rules and regulations are as follows-

• No child must be involved either directly or indirectly in activities that are anti-social, or harmful in any manner either to the child concerned or to those around him/her (drugs, bullying, street fighting etc..)
• A minimum of 75% of attendance in school is a must
• Habitual unpunctuality
• Children must be present on the last day of the school function before school vacations as well as on the first day after vacations including the days on which the new academic session begins as well as on days students are requested by the school to be present.
• Improper dress on a continued basis.
• Insubordination and/or rude behaviour in or outside school campus.
• Destruction of school property
• Failing in any class for two years consecutively
• Copying or cheating in Tests/ Examinations.
• Irregular attendance

School Management will not be liable for damage/charges/lose on account of injuries, fatal or otherwise which may be sustained by the students at any time during his /her stay in the school or while taking part in studies/sports and extra curricular activities or any other form of activity conducted by the school within or outside the school premises.
Parents/guardians must notify the school of any change or addition in their address or phone numbers from time to time.
All fees must be paid by the 10^th of the month failing to do so will attract fine as specified at that time.

Withdrawal:
Parents intending to withdraw their child will have to give one month’s notice.

Security Deposit:
This is refundable within 3 months of withdrawal. If the security amount is a not claimed within one year; the parents will have no claim on the money.

Transfer Certificate:
No Transfer Certificate will be given unless and until all dues are clear including books etc. taken from the school during the last academic year.

Homework:
Parents/guardians are requested to make time for the child to cover his/her homework and to see that it is done and to sign the homework diary each day.

The uniform worn by our students is as follows:-

Classes Nursery and KG	Boys and girls-Red checked shirts and blue rompers, school sweater and jacket. On Mondays whites are worn
Class I onwards	Boys-White shirts, grey worsted trousers, school tie, belt and sweater Girls-White shirts, Grey skirts, school tie, belt and sweater
Classes I & II	Can wear the school jackets
class III upwards	The school blazer is compulsory. On Mondays whites are worn, On Saturdays games kit is worn with track suit

For Games House shirts and navy blue short and track suits along with white canvas shoes is compulsory for all boys and girls.
 
·      All boys (except Sikhs) must have short hair at all time.
·     No jewellery, except simple earrings for girls and a Kara for the Sikh children is allowed in school.
·       Please note boys are not permitted to wear earrings or any other form of jewellery during school hours.
·     Colouring of hair is not permitted for boys and girls under any circumstances except bu prior permission in writing from the Principal.

The school is founded and run by a Society which is registered as Carman Residential and Day School Society. The institute is managed by a Board of Governors belonging to the Anglo Indian Community. They are dedicated to provide the best possible education in order to ensure the all round development of each and every child entrusted to their care.

The school admits students from all walks of life irrespective of their backgrounds, caste, colour or creed. Every child be a girl or a boy is treated equally and hence in order to seek admission every child must-

• Register themselves during the stipulated time which is the first week of December onwards.
  
• Minimum age for Nursery class is 3 years and 6 months calculated as on 1^st April in the year in which admission is sought.
  
• Admission test are held in English, Hindi, Maths and Science. The syllabus for which is based on the child’s basic knowledge of the subject and is available from December onwards.
• After been granted admission a child must complete the admission forms etc. within a week failing which the seat will be allotted to the next deserving candidate.
  
• At the time of admission the presence of the parents of the child is compulsory.
  
• The admission procedure for students wishing to join class IX, X, XI and XII is based upon:

        i)  Availability of seats
        ii) Subject combinations offered
        iii) Percentage secured in individual subjects by the child
        iv) Character certificate from previous school
        v) Any other criteria specified from time to time

• The Principal’s decision regarding the admission is final.

To encourage students awards are granted for all activities conducted by the school. In addition to the above concession in fees either partly or fully as well as scholarship to deserving students is also granted.
