Carman School, Kunja Grant started in the year 1995 and today is a well established name in the field of education  renowned for providing qualitative education to its students. Apart from this, we also have the latest infrastructural facilities and practice various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, making us the preferred choice of thousands of parents across the country.
 
Our principle school, Carman School was founded on 3^rd March, 1961 and is situated in the beautiful Doon Valley, which is considered to be the home of education. ‘Perseverance is success’ is the motto followed by us since our inception and we continue to practice it till date.This is the reason that we have been able to achieve success in our field of work and garner widespread appreciation.
 
The second branch of the school is located at Shyampur, Premnagar District, Dehradun. And we, namely, Carman School, Kunja Grant are the third institution formed by the society and are situated in a village near Herbertpur, a satellite township of DehraDun, which is approximately at a distance of 45 km from the clock tower in DehraDun.
 
Mrs. D.G. Buttlerwhite is the Principal of the school and has an incredible experience surpassing 40 years in the field of teaching and administration.Before joining our institution, she was appointed as the Vice Principal of Cambrian Hall School, which is counted among the reputed schools in the city of DehraDun.

Our goal has always been to provide complete education and an all-round development to our students. With the help of the Principal and staff of the school, we envision instilling the following values in our students:

A society registered as the Carman Residential and Day School Society governs the functioning of the school. The Management comprises a Board of Governors belonging to the Anglo-Indian community, committed to the cause of equal and fair education for all. The other two institutions are recognized as Co-educational Anglo-Indian Schools by the government and are open to all nationalities, without any reservation.
 
Under the able guidance of our Chairman, Mr. R. V. Gardner, we have been able to carve a distinctive identity for ourselves in the field of education.

In our efforts to maintain high discipline standards, we are extremely particular about following the school uniform codes and do not prefer students to become defaulters with respect to their uniforms. Mentioned below is the dress code for the winter season followed in our school:

• For Classes Nursery & KG
  • Boys & Girls – Red checked shirts and blue rompers, school sweater and jacket. On Mondays whites are worn
• Class I onwards
  • Boys - White shirts, grey worsted trousers, school tie, belt and sweater
  • Girls - White shirts, grey skirts, school tie, belt and sweater
  • Classes I & II can wear the school jackets, while for class III upwards the school blazer is compulsory
  • On Mondays whites are worn.
  • On Saturdays games kit is worn with track suit
• Games kit comprises
  • Boys: house shits, (navy blue shorts/trousers in summer and grey trousers in winter) and white canvas shoes
• All boys (except Sikhs) must have short hair cuts at all time
• No jewelry, except simple earrings for girls and a Kara for the Sikh children is allowed in school. Earrings for boys are not allowed for any reason

We believe in overall development of a student’s personality and try to inculcate unique values and ethics in them. Moreover, to help our students take a break from the monotony of textbooks, blackboards and classrooms and to help them further develop their indigenous talents, the school conducts various activities, some of which are as follows:

To ensure that the students get the best of teachers available in the country, we follow a rigorous recruitment process before appointing a particular candidate. Apart from checking their credentials and testing their knowledge in the concerned subject, we also check the ability of the candidates to deal with different mindsets and extreme behaviors. The teachers are continuously exposed to the latest teaching methods through the conduction of seminars and also through interaction with fellow colleagues from other institutions.
 
Moreover, to teach the extra curricular activities and sports activities offered in our school,  we have appointed experienced teachers who have thorough knowledge in their respective fields, so that they are bale to provide correct guidance to the students. Our administrative and related staff is also extremely humble in nature and is always willing to help the students.

Academics holds great importance in an individual’s life as it provides him/her with the basic knowledge about the world and its various aspects. Thus, our endeavor has always been to provide the students in our school with the best and the most complete education. Below you can find a detailed list of the assessment schedule followed by us and the subject choices available in our school:

• Each academic year has three assessments that take place in the months of August, November and December respectively
• The minimum passing percentage is 50%
• Upto Class VIII, it is compulsory for the students to study all the subjects, namely, English, Hindi, Maths, Social Studies, Science, Computers and Art
• However, in Class IX the students can choose from the below mentioned subjects:

  o    Compulsory subjects
      1.    English
      2.    Hindi
      3.    Social studies i.e. History/Civics and Geography
      4.    E.V. E.
  o    Optional subjects
      1.    Science Stream - Science i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology; Maths; Economic Application              
      2.    Commerce Stream - Commercial Studies; Economics or Maths; Economics Application

The academic year commences in April and ends in the month of March of the following year. From mid of May upto mid July are the summer vacations. Thereafter, from mid December until mid January are the winter vacations of our school.

School timings:

• Summer - 8:00 am to 1:30 pm
• Winter - 8:15 am to 1:30 pm

Our vast experience in the educational field has provided us with the knowledge and understanding of the unique behavior and thinking process of individual students. Owing to this, we have been able to implement the latest teaching methods and aids in our teaching methodology. We make use of hi-tech computer-aided teaching aids and tools that help us in providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive education to the students of our school.
 
In order to provide the students with a peaceful atmosphere and to let them experience every comfort, so as to help them enjoy the process of learning, we offer world-class facilities that help the students live a balanced and comfortable life. The services offered by us comprise Curricular Activities, Hostel, Cultural Activities, Campus, Transportation Facility and Play Grounds.

To ensure that al students applying for admission in our school get an equal treatment and a fair chance to prove their knowledge, we have designed an admission procedure, which every single child has to go through, in order to get admission in the school. The admission procedure followed by us is mentioned below:

• Registration for Classes Nursery onwards opens in the first week of December
• Minimum age for Nursery is 3 years 6 months
• The 1^st admission test is held in the month of February
• The children are tested on the basic level of English, Hindi, Maths & Science for the class in which admission is required
• The results are declared within a week
• The child who has secured a seat will be given one week to complete the admission formalities                                           
• Interviews with Parents/Guardians along with the child is a must
