Use of Casein for High Speed Labeling
Casein is used in wide variety of applications. Since, it is the most widely used adhesive type and is preferred for use in modern labeling machines, guarantees trouble-free and continuous economical operation. These provide good performance even at the highest speeds.
Use of Casein in Paint Industry
Casein can be used for variety of applications like painting. These can be used for painting different surfaces like wood and plaster. Due to their brittle nature, casein is not used on flexible surfaces such as canvas. Hence these are a preferred mostly to paint hard surfaces. Casein also acts as an emulsifier, thus allowing easy amalgamation of oil and water. Casein can be used in two ways, one of them being in combination with pigments. There are two types of Casein, Lime Casein and Borax Casein. Borax casein is easier to use and is best as an artist grade pigment binder. Used for making paints commonly known as distemper colors, borax casein can also be used to make larger quantities of paint for interior wall paint applications.
Casein in Wood Industry
Casein is popularly used as one of the older woodworking glues. It forms glue which when mixed with water and alkali has properties of:
- Moderately high dry strength
- Moderate resistance to water
- Damp atmosphere resistance
- Intermediate temperatures
Casein is generally applied and pressed at room temperature which makes it effective glue.
Uses of Industrial Casein
Industrial Casein is used in Paper cone Industry, Adhesive Industry, Paint Industry, Leather Industry and Paper chemical Industry. Industrial casein can be easily used in bulk quantity for the purpose of sticking paper with cone.
