BECHEM develops, produces and sells high performance lubricants and additives all over the world. Our special solutions in the fields of speciality lubricants, industrial lubricants and lubricants for metal working and forming technology are based on the latest tribological knowledge.

BECHEM's research and development of lubricants and additives always sets standards with regard to reduction of friction and wear, high and low temperature properties, corrosion protection, sealing and media compatibility, especially in respect of environmental protection and toxicological innocuousness.The basis: modern laboratory technologies, analytical methods, computer-assisted test rigs.

Besides the headquarter in Hagen BECHEM has two other production sites in Germany, in Mieste and Kierspe. In addition to that, our worldwide distribution network allows us to develop markets all over the world. With the daughter companies in France, India, and Switzerland, as well as the Joint Ventures in the USA, South Africa, Sweden and China BECHEM shows its international presence. 1834
The unitary German economic system is created. 18 countries of the German Federation abolished the customs barriers and paved the way for active trade. Almost at the same time, Carl Bechem founds the first oil plant in Hagen.

1860
Abraham Lincoln becomes President of the United States of America. Meanwhile Carl Bechem moves into new production sites in the Elberfelderstraße with his growing company.

1889
After a three years' construction time the Eiffel Tower in Paris is inaugurated just in time for the world exposition. At BECHEM, mineral oils replace the previously used vegetable oils. The motto of the company: "Quality safeguards business" becomes the promise to Carl Bechem's customers

1945
The introduction of the Vespa creates a novel of people's mobility. Carl Bechem's successors enthusiastically start with the reconstruction of the plant and the development of new products for new markets.

1952
The company Sony develops the transistor radio. BECHEM builds a modern special plant for the production of high performance lubricants in Hagen Vorhalle. It is the beginning of the German economic miracle.

2000
The US space shuttle Endeavour starts for its unique mission for the three-dimensional new measurement of the earth's surface. BECHEM products considerably contribute to the technical development in the world. The company now has daughters in France, India and China.

2004
In France the highest bridge in the world is inaugurated. BECHEM lubricants are there where highest technical performances are achieved. Besides other awards, BECHEM obtains the marketing prize for their holistic thinking and acting within the company.

2005
The run for tickets for the soccer world championship 2006 starts. BECHEM celebrates the inauguration of the new BECHEM InnovationCenter in the headquarter Hagen. As symbol for progress and development an artwork which represents the BECHEM motto "That'Special" is exposed in the BECHEM InnovationCenter.

Future
With "Utopia", the first novel of Thomas Morus, thinking in visions assumed new dimensions. The methods applied in science for futurology also have influence on the special developments at BECHEM. Thus developments in the future can be foreseen. To have visions means to have future. That'Special.
