The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), an Autonomous Institution under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, empowered through an Act of the Indian Parliament. BIS operates product certification leading to the ISI Mark based on grant of license by BIS. Telecom Engineering Centre under Department of Telecommunications imparts TEC Approvals for Telecom Equipment requiring connection to public networks or interface with them. Visit to manufacturer premises is required as a part of all above approval processes. WPC Approvals for Wireless Equipment from Wireless Advisor under Department of Telecommunications, Explosive Equipment Approvals from DGMS (Director General Mines Safety)and Chief Controller of Explosives are also facilitated. CII organizes for all these approvals based on test data furnished by the applicants. Local testing and local representation is also organized when required.
