There are two types of Angular Contact Ball Bearings:

Single row angular contact ball bearings:

Single row angular contact ball bearings are capable of carrying axial loads acting in one direction only. The force acting in the axial direction, under the radial loads, needs to be encountered. This force is usually adjustable against the second bearing. These bearings contain one high and one low shoulder on each ring allowing more number of balls to be incorporated.

Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings:

Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings have been designed by using two single row angular contact ball bearings placed back to back and contain a non-separable type design. The fundamental design of these types of bearings does not have filling slots and is also can adapt equal axial loads in both directions. The ones with a larger outer diameter contain filling slots in one direction and also a pressed steel cage.

A common concave sphere raceway is the outer ring whose center of curvature meets that of the bearing, so that the inner ring, balls and cage continue to rotate. The single direction thrust bearings contain two washers with grooved raceways and the curvature of the raceways is slightly larger than that of ball. In these two washers, one is shaft washer and the other one is housing washer. The bore of the shaft washer is similar to the shaft diameter and the bore of the housing washer is slightly larger than that of shaft washer, to facilitate free rotation.
