Avmount Machine Mounts : Type AV

To obtain optimum performance from machine tools after installation, the noise levels must be reduced and the external and inherent vibrations kept to a minimum. In order to achieve this, Avmount Anti-Vibration mountings can be used that are not only easy to install but also provide for precise-levelling. The mounts absorb shocks and impacts caused by punching machines and presses as also the horizontal forces from injection moulding machines and shaping machines.

The mounts keep the machinery firmly in position whilst aiding smooth operation. Avmounts eliminate mass movements of shaping machines and prevent them from drifting. Lathes, grinding machines and other precision machines are protected from external shock loads and vibrations.

  • Easy installation
  • Precision levelling
  • No external shock loads or vibrations
  • Absorption of shocks and impacts
  • Machinery firmly positioned thus preventing wandering
  • Lower noise levels
  • Mobility of machinery
  • Immediate commissioning

Mounting Procedure (Type AV)

Lift the machine slightly above the floor.

  1. Screw down the bolts into their respective guides.
  2. Lower the machine so that it rests on the machine mounts.
  3. Level the machine using a precision spirit level as illustrated.
  4. Tighten the lock nut after levelling, to prevent any alterations in level while in operation.
  5. Should the levelling exceed this limit because of an uneven floor, then a spacer of appropriate diameter and thickness should be inserted between the machine base and the mount, to compensate for the difference in the floor level at any support point.
  6. In some machines, the design of the base is hollow and the bolt hole provided is such that the mountings cannot be directly fixed to the base. In such cases, the machine is made to rest on an adequate size of flats and the mountings placed under them. The rest of the procedure is the same as discussed.
  7. If the bolt lengths are more, the chamfered end may be cut to suit the machine. After cutting it to the required length, then chamfer the end to an included angle of 120 degrees and a 3 mm depth.

Avmount Cup Type Shock Mounts : Type AVC

Avmount Cup Type Shock Mounts : Type AVC

Avmount Cup Type Shock Mounts : Type AVC

AVC Cup Type Shock Mounts are specifically designed for the protection of equipment from high impact shocks, medium to high frequency vibrations and these therefore serve as a barrier against structure-borne noises. The latter is particularly useful for communication, radar, electronic and other sensitive equipment installed in vehicles, ships, aircraft and other mobile installations.

The movement of a vehicle over rough terrain or tracks on land, through inclement weather at sea or past gunfire or other explosions on land, sea or air, results in high impact, high frequency shocks being generated. Shocks are also the result because of careless or accidental handling of equipment during transit. AVC Cup Type Shock Mounts are useful in all such cases.

Our mounts in addition, provide vibration isolation from 40 cps upwards although this is dependent on the system resonant frequency.

AVC Cup Type Shock Mounts are compact in design and its mild steel components are so designed and assembled as to be self-captivating, that even if the rubber component is destroyed, the equipment still remains firmly attached to the supporting structure. The use of rubber in compression lends the characteristics of increased stiffness with deflection, thereby ensuring good shock protection without sudden bottoming. The characteristic of equal stiffness in all directions provides shock and vibration protection in all directions, whilst also allowing the isolators to be so installed that they are loaded either radially or axially, upright or inverted.

Dimensions of Vibro Dampers (Type AVM)

Avmount Vibro Dampers are designed to use the isolating media, rubber in this case, both in compression and in shear. It is bonded to metal during vulcanisation such that the design makes the mounting have an equal stiffness in all directions. The mounting can be used for mobile applications also, since the base of the mounting is provided with holes for attachment to the chassis. It also has a friction pad bonded to the bottom of the base for proper fixation of the machine to the floor in case of stationary applications. Hence no bolting is necessary under these conditions.

Avmount Vibro Dampers are highly efficient yet economical vibration and shock isolators. This product is EXCLUSIVELY manufactured by us. You can use them for vibration of compressors, diesel generators, fans and motors as well as for the protection of mounted equipment from external vibration or shock. Being of extremely robust design, these isolators are particularly suitable for rugged conditions and give trouble-free and continued service. Their life is generally equal to that of the machinery or plant which is mounted on them.

Avmount Vibro Dampers Type AVM in addition to isolating machinery and structures from vibration and shock, provide a means sitting stabilisation so that the floor areas are undisturbed with no need for bolting or grouting in. machinery is left free-standing and thus can be re-sitted with ease. To meet certain requirements, however, holes are provided in the base plate.

Machinery mounted on our dampers is isolated both actively and passively. The machinery is isolated actively in the sense that the machine which is a source of vibration is so isolated that the incidence of transmission of vibration to the floor upon which it rests is reduced to an extent, and passively in the sense that the machine which would be affected adversely by external sources of vibration is now insulated from them.

Avmount Vibro Dampers Type AVM have a bottom friction pad bounded to the bottom of the mounting and hence there is no necessity of adding another friction pad.

VIBRO DAMPERS

Installation of equipments on VIBRO DAMPERS is the modern method of installing equipment which must be protected from shock and vibrations which are inherent in many environments.

Mounting Procedure for Vibro Dampers (Type AVM)

  1. Obtain the weight and the Centre of Gravity of the assembly to be mounted.
  2. If this is not readily available, obtain weights and respective Centres of Gravity of the individual units which make up the mounted mass. For instance, the engine, radiator, alternator, flywheel, base frame, etc. from a D. G. set.
  3. Determine the position of the Centre of Gravity of the assembly by reference to two vertical planes at right angles to each taking moments of the separate units about these datum planes and dividing the respective sum of these by the total weight of the assembly.
  4. Determine the disturbing frequencies which are usually primary and/or secondary orders of the slowest speed of the machine.
  5. Decide on the minimum amount of isolation required. Normally aim for more than 80%.
  6. With reference to the basic vibration chart, assess the deflection required on the mounts which when under load will operate at the desired natural frequency.
  7. Decide on the type and number of mounts required after reference to the static spring rate characteristics which indicate the load/deflection and load capacity details, bearing the following points in mind:
    a) All mounts must be equally deflected.
    b) It is better if all mounts are equally loaded.
  8. Fix the mounting positions around the machine so that each mount will be equally loaded. This is achieved by ensuring that the algebraic sum of the horizontal centre distances of the mountings about the Centre of Gravity equals to zero. This exercise must be carried out in both directions. Long spans between mounting points should be avoided and normally limited to 3 to 4 feet although this figure is obviously dependent upon the structural rigidity of the machine or the sub-base on which the driver and driver units should be fixed.
  9. If it is not possible to distribute the mounts symmetrically about the Centre of Gravity it will be necessary to take moments to assess the load reactions at the most convenient mounting points. This is needed to determine a modified mounting stiffness requirement to give uniform deflections on all mounts.

Avmounts Cushy Foot Mountings : Type ACF

We manufacture Avmount Cushy Foot Mountings that find wide uses in diesel engines, combustion engines, air conditioning units, etc. Our range includes the ACF/A series and the ACF/B series.

Avmount Cushy Foot Mountings are designed such that when any equipment is placed on them, the rubber-to-metal bonded rectangular inserts are loaded in compression and shear-a combination which lends longevity with the best load/deflection characteristics. These cannot become 'solid' and thus rendered ineffective-a failure from which many so-called anti-vibration devices. Our mountings are so designed that the rubber is protected from oil and physical damage by the use of robust castings. They also provide three planes of stiffness-vertical transverse and longitudinal, thereby allowing them to be employed for optimum performance and use. Full advantage can be taken of this characteristic by disposing the mountings so that greater flexibility is available in the direction in which it is needed.

The mountings are made to suit a very wide range of loads from 50 kg to 1500 kg. This is possible by designing the rubber compound suitably. Avmount Cushy Foot Mountings are employed with friction locating pads to eliminate the need for grouting, thus making the mounts easy to fit resulting in a neat installation. Additionally, shifting of the location of the instrumentation or machinery is possible with minimum of effort.
