It is a 14 year old company. Today the company is proud to have workers in 40 different villages in and around lucknow. It have tried to cover the remotest villages where at one time one had to wade through rivers as there was no mode of transport. Alankrit holds exhibitions all over india and abroad. Alankrit has tried to cover even the remotest area so that people become aware of the craft. It has played a very vital role in the revival of the chikankari craft and pioneered chikan in terms of fashion making it more glamorours. It at alankrit specialize in hand embroideries, traditional indian cloths and yardages. A lot of traditional fabrics and prints like bandini, ikat, kalamkari, dabu, bandhej, lehariya and baghru prints are used. It also love playing with colours and are famous for our special colour effects. Here it is combining traditional indian embroidery with block printing, vegetable dyes and varied fabrics. Kamdani, zardozi, machine, bead, kantha, aari and parsi embroidery are incorporated to bring out the best in each woman through designs which are both traditional and contemporary. The designs combine chikan work with a myriad of other forms of exquisite embroidery on a large variety of fabrics such as silk, organza, chiffon, crepes, kota, voile, mul-mul, lace and jute. Intricately embroidering a saree with chikan work usually takes seven to eight months for one person, fetching small earnings, but we hire three or four people to do the same work to finish it much faster and pays them triple the amount, making the benefit mutual and quicker. Incidentally chikan work is not just about the common shadow work embroidery done on transparent cloth, the regular running stitch mode or even the very popular 'jali work' holes in the cloth embroidered to give the net effect, but involves 30 different stitches. |
InfrastructureToday it have about 2000 workers working.
