As environmental issues of global warming and climate change have become critical, there is an imperative need for development of innovative, sustainable building materials as eco friendly substitutes to the traditional materials of wood, steel and concrete. It is in this context
that the composites technology park, bangalore, a national facility established by the society for development of composites, bangalore, with the support of the govt. of karnataka and govt. of india, has successfully developed the technology of natural fibre glass fibre hybrid bio composite materials for manufacture of a range of green, eco friendly building products for various applications. This technology
has won a gold medal from lockheed martin inc., of usa under its india
innovation growth program for 2007.

The large number of composite products that have been developed at the composites technology park, the following are considered as ideally suited for large scale applications in various construction projects.

These products are light weight, strong, non corrosive, possess better thermal and noise insulation properties and have been tested and certified as per indian standards is: 15476-2000. in view of their obvious advantages, all those organizations, institutions and individuals who are interested in promoting the green buildings movement are requested to make use of these eco friendly green building products for their construction projects.

The Composites Technology Park is located on 6.5 acres of land at the out skirts of Kengeri Upanagara, Bangalore. The Technology Park is well equipped with wide ranging facilities for materials analysis, characteriszation and testing, Computer Aided Design Centre, Bamboo Coir Composites Design and Development Centre, Coir Composites Design and Development Centre, gfrp Design and Development Centre, Technology Business Incubation Centre, hrd and Training Centre, Products Display Centre, Conference Hall, Administrative Offices, Fabrication shops equipped with imported and indigenous plant and machinery, including, rtm, Filament-Winding, Hybridizing, Resin production and impregnation, foaming and bonding, high-temperature 800 tons hydraulic press, tooling and moulding, product assembly and finishing etc.
