N-ACT functions as an autonomous body registered the VISHWAKALA TRUST (Reg.No: IV 22/08-09) and Government of India, and is Permitted by Indian Trust Act, 1882. The Apex body is responsible for making all major policy decisions of the institute in consonance with its aims and objectives.

The Trustees of the Vishwakala Trust serves as the Executive head and implements its policies and programmes for the National Academy of Cinema And Television.
