About Us

Agrocel Industries Limited is part of the Shroff Group of Companies which includes Excel Industries Limited, Excel Crop Care Limited, Transpek Industries Limited, TML Industries and Hyderabad Chemicals Limited. Even as the Shroff brothers – Champraj, Govindji and Kantisen – were building their business empire and establishing their irrevocable stamp on the chemical industrial world, their dream was to return to or at least be of service to their homeland – the district of Kachchh in Gujarat. When Chamraj Shroff passed away in 1968, the younger brothers were even more determined to commit themselves to Kachchh. Kachchh occupies the northernmost part of the state of Gujarat. To the north and east, are two salt deserts, the larger and more inaccessible being the Greater Rann. Beyond that is the Indo-Pakistan border. The climate is extreme; the rainfall scarce and unreliable. In the mid-60’s, Kachchh was ravaged by famine. Kantisen along with his wife Chanda joined relief activities. Both realized the urgent need for long-term, livelihood related intervention programmes to combat poverty and curb migration.

Aim / Vision / Mission

Mission

The Marine Chemicals Division will push the boundaries of marine chemical innovation by exploring the further potential of sea bittern to incrementally extract chemicals such as potassium salt and magnesium salt for use in India’s vast agricultural sector. The Division will also become a reliable supplier of pharma intermediates and have its own manufacturing facilities that meet Good Manufacturing Practices standards. Another new venture will be the manufacture of Bromine-based flame retardants.
