It is the central source to all Knorr-Bremse rail products, systems and service support for customers located in India.
Key products supplied from Knorr-Bremse India include air brake systems for passenger and freight cars, brake systems for diesel and electric locomotives, disc brake systems for coaches, tread brake units, air dryers, air compressors, dampers, EP brake systems, door systems for metro cars, air suspension control equipment and switchgears.
Knorr-Bremse India is responsible for the design & development of its Hydraulic Dampers, and is also Centre of Competence (CoC) for the same.
Knorr-Bremse India utilizes a PAN India network for sales and services across the country stretching from Faridabad (North Region), Kolkata (East Region) and Mumbai (West Region) to Chennai (South Region).

October 27, 2010 [Knorr-Bremse Group]
Knorr-Bremse subsidiary Microelettrica Scientifica S.p.A. of Italy acquired Heine Resistors GmbH based in Dresden, Germany, a manufacturer of special-purpose resistors. For the Italian member of the Knorr-Bremse Group this was the third substantial acquisition in the last two years, following the takeovers of EMC Traction S.r.l. and Officine De Zan S.r.l. in 2009. The acquisition forms a part of Knorr-Bremse's long-term strategy to expand the company's position in a number of areas through targeted M&A activities “like a string of pearls”.
The company that completed the acquisition, Microelettrica Scientifica S.p.A., based in Rozzano, Milan, has been a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group since 2005. For over 50 years now, Microelettrica Scientifica has been designing, developing and producing contactors, switches, protection relays and resistors for railway and industrial applications. The company's acquisition of Heine shows great potential in the resistors segment in particular, as in this market segment outstanding industrial synergies will result for both companies.
Knorr-Bremse strengthens air-conditioning product sector through strategic acquisition

Effective September 29, 2010, the Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific (Holding) Ltd., a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, has bought the Australian HVAC systems specialist Sigma Coachair Group (SCG). The move forms part of Knorr-Bremse's long-term strategic drive to expand the company's position in a number of areas through targeted acquisitions. While Knorr-Bremse subsidiary Merak has to date supplied benchmark HVAC systems primarily in China, Europe and the Americas, the acquisition of Sigma Coachair Group will enable the company to access the growth markets of South East Asia, India and Australia in particular. As a result of the acquisition, the Knorr-Bremse Group is now one of the world's leading manufacturers of rail vehicle air-conditioning systems.
