A fitting description of drinking water crisis we regularly face in today's world. 70% of our planet
is surrounded by water, in the form of oceans, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, aquifers etc. But only 1% of it is fit for human consumption. With ever increasing pollution and contamination, even that 1% of drinking water resources is rapidly deteriorating. *According to World Health Organization, every year more than 3.4 million people die as a result of water-borne diseases.* Hence pure and safe drinking water has become the need of the hour. Various methods like boiling,
chlorination, filtration, ultra violet technology and ozonization etc., are used to purify drinking water. Though there are many effective technologies used to provide water purification and water
treatment solutions, no single technology is applicable to all possible contaminants. Each and every water problem must be treated with a specific technology or combination of technologies to make it pure and safe.
