About Us

In the 1960's the turbulence of partition and independence, gave in to a new found confidence in the economy and unleashed a wave of daring entrepreneurs. One family of such daring entrepreneurs was the Nahata's.

The Nahata's entered the salt industry in the year 1969 by establishing Chirai Group of Companies. The companies engaged in activities ranging from manufacturing to export of edible and industrial salt.

Since then the group witnessed meteoric rise and diversified in sectors like infrastructure and logistics.

Today, the group is recognized as one of the pioneers and trendsetters in the salt industry. One of the feathers in the cap is tie-up of its sister concern with Hindustan Unilever Limited and Tata Chemicals to provide iodized salt for their Annapurna and I-Shakti Salt brand salt respectively in consumer branded packs manufactured in its refineries.

Salt Fields

Our salt fields are spread over the coast of Gulf of Kutch having more than 4000 acres of land, at Mundra, Chiria, Kandla and Shikarpur. At present, we sell more than a half million tones of Sea Salt, which will be increased up to 1 Million tones by the year 2012. The salt fields have been developed according to international standards. Hence, the salt the gets manufactured is of very high quality.

Salt Refineries

By establishing a small refinery of 36000 TPA capacities in 1991 at present we own two refineries near Kandla Port with a total capacity of 500000 TPA.
