Tune Musical Door Bell

This simple circuit finds application as a doorbell as well as telephone intruder music player, toy or attention call bell.

 

The heart of the circuit is an IC4822 named as IC1. IC4822 is a programmed ROM, which generates 16 musical tunes when it gets triggered. The main feature of this IC is that it has inbuilt tone generator, rhythm generator, modulator, oscillator, frequency divider and preamplifier. So a very few number of components have to be connected externally to set up timing and to build an external AF amplifier/driver circuit.

This musical bell provides a facility to select any of the 16 tones generated by IC 4822 (IC1). IC1 is a programmed ROM, popularly known as musical doorbell IC. This IC has an on-chip oscillator and preamplifier circuit. Simple circuit generates 15 different notes

The modern electronics presents this Electronic Harmonium as a hobby kit or people who are interested to have hands on experience in this field.

This harmonium can generate 15 different notes of music (one at a time). It has a PCB with 15 parallel copper strips. Each strip corresponds to one note. So as you put the probe on a strip, the instrument plays a corresponding note.

The circuit is build around IC1, which is used as a astable multivibrator. The frequency produced depend on the note selected by the probe. When we put the probe on different strips, we are effectively changing the frequency by changing the resistance between pin7 and pin2 of IC1.

Many industries have to suffer lot from smoke problems. But this unit provides a great relief to this problem.The sensor assembly consists of white LED D1 and Photodiode D2, which are mounted face to face in an enclosure such that when smoke passes through this enclosure, a noticeable alarm is raised.

 

About the Circuit:

 

The circuit is designed around IC1, which is wired in monostable mode. Photodiode D2 is connected in reverse bias mode. In presence of light it has very low resistance. But when light falling on it gets interrupted, its resistance increases to a very large value. This feature is used to trigger IC1.Diode D1 is used to fall light on D2. The intensity of light is controlled using preset P1. In absence of smoke, transistor T1 does not conduct and reset pin 4 of IC1 remains high. Output of IC1 at pin3 is low and transistor T2 remains in cut-off state and alarm is not raised.

 

As soon as the smoke passes through the enclosure, light falling on D2 gets interrupted, transistor T1 conducts and reset pin4 goes low. As a result IC1 gets triggered and pin3 goes high. Transistor T2 conducts and buzzer raises the alarm. At the same time LED D3 lights, which gives visual indication.Diodes D4, D5 are used to rectify the 12V AC signal and capacitor C3 is used as a filter capacitor.


Rain Alarm

Rain alarm circuit alerts the people when it begins to rain. The circuit is build around monostable multivibrator IC1. The sensor connected to trigger pin2 of IC1 is made from resistor leads or small metal foil pieces. When sensor detects rain, IC1 gets triggered and raises the alarm. Also when the rain stops, the circuit switches off autometically.

 

About the Circuit:

The circuit is based on the operation of IC1. It is used in the monostable mode i.e. it gets triggered when the voltage at pin2 is below 1/3Vcc.

When rain falls on the sensor, the voltage at pin2 goes below 1/3Vcc. Hence IC1 generates high output pulse at pin3. As a result transistor T1 connected to pin3 conducts and piezobuzzer connected to it sounds an alarm. LED D1 gives the visual indication that the rain falls.

 

Note on SENSOR:

One can make a suitable sensor according to one’s choice. A model of the sensor is shown in figure. The distance between the rails is made as small as possible so as to have a more compact and reliable sensor.
