As an extraction aid for heavy metal: TBP is used in the liquid-liquid extraction of salts of rare metals from water solutions. It leads a clean separation of lanthenides and activides.

• As a flame retardant: In a decorative laminates TBP is useful for its flame retardant characteristic
• As a defoamer: TBP can be used as a defoaming agent in self leveling morter mixture. This mixture which is used as coating material have good compressive strength.
• As a stabilizer: TBP has been useful as a stabilizer in the manufacture of aromatic polyester it enhance the mold ability while processing.
• As a solvent: In the separation mechanism for satenium and telluriam by Chromatographic method. TBP is used as a stationary phase.
• AS a plasticizer : TBP is used as a plasticizer in the Polymerization of Teraphthalate ( P.E.T ) . It enhances processiability & productivity

Tri Cresyl Phosphate (TCP), the general purpose naturally derived tri aryl phosphate and one of the most permanent plasticizers available, is most widely used among natural phosphoric ester due to its characteristic like weather resistance, fire retardency, electric insulation, low volatility and low solubility in water.

Uses

• TCP is used as a lubricant additive and has been proven effective as a wild extreme pressure additive for synthetic oil.

• TCP is used as the base oil for fire retardence hydraulic fluid for minimizing fire risk from heat source source or electric spark.

• TCP is used in coating : Nitro cellulose laquers, phenolic resins, lube oil

• TCP is used in leather clothes (pvc): upholstery, book binding, seat cover etc.

• TCP is used in Extruded articles: cable (pvc & rubber) hoses, flexible pipe, coal mining conveyor belts.

• TCP is used in utility Article: Footwear rain coats, hand bags, fibre glass cellulose acelate

• TCP is used in the clear and dark coloured flame retardants sheeting where pigmenting or specifying flame retardants are undesirable.

Toxicity :- Tri Cresyl Phosphate exhibit a low level of toxicity. However in case of contact with eyes or skin, flush with plenty of water. Get medical attention if desired.

• TPP is used as a flame retardants and plasticizers in many plastic and resin especially in phenolic resin for the manufacture of electrical and Automobile components, decorative laminated sheets etc.
• TPP, a solid is indispensable as a flame resistance plasticizers for surface coating, safety films and Acetyl cellulose based plastic compound.
• TPP, is an excellent catalyst / inhibitor/ chain terminator for the growing polymer chain for the manufacture of polyster fibre.
• TPP is used as a Non-Flammable plasticizer or additive in cellulose for photographic films, polyester and polyurathane.
• TPP is used as impregnating agent for roofing paper, making stencil blanks dopes films, varnishes, enamels, plastics, laquers etc.
• TPP is used in moulding composition like cellulose elelate, cellulose acetate butyrate and vinyl co-polymer compound eg. records, vacuum cleaner parts, housing appliances, for prevent heat distortion, surface active agent, internal lubricating agent, plasticizing agent to control brittleness. Its heat stability, low water absorption and low volatility are all advantages over other plasticizer that has been used in these applications.
