Reactive Diluents

Description for CGE
It is a commercial grade of o-Cresol glycidyl ether. A low viscosity aromatic mono-epoxide. Primarily used for reducing viscosity of conventional epoxy resins.

Advantages
  • Reduce viscosity of high molecular weight epoxy resins.
  • Improves substrate & filler wetting of adhesive formulations.
  • Excellent retention of mechanical & chemical resistance cured state properties.
  • Low vapour pressure

  • Applications
  • Adhesives
  • Casting
  • Floorings
  • Potting & Encapsulation
  • Tooling

  • Typical properties
  • Appearance clears liquid
  • Gardner color, max 2
  • Epoxy value, eq./ kg 5.5 – 6.0
  • Hydrolysable chlorine, max % 0.2
  • Viscosity @ 25 0 C, cps 40 – 60

  • Description for PGE
It is light yellow liquid mono-epoxide compatible with modified and non-modified DGEBA epoxy resins in all proportions

    Typical Properties
  • Viscosity Hoppler 6 - 8 mPa.s. @ 25 C
  • Appearance visual Light yellow, Clear Liquid
  • Epoxy Value 5.9 - 6.3 eq. / Kg.
  • Refractive Index 1.528 - 1.330 @ 25 C
  • Storage Stability Up to 12 months in original container.

  • Addition of REACTIVE DILUENT to an epoxy resin imparts the following advantages:

  • Viscosity Reduction without increasing volatiles.
  • Higher filler loadings, which in turns results in cost reduction. Secondary benefits of the higher filler loadings, such as higher compressive strength, lower co-efficient of expansion; lower exotherm and lower shrinkage are also obtained.
  • Increased Pot Life of resin hardener mixture without increasing total cure time.

  • Applications
  • In coating - both solvents free and solvent containing.
  • In casting and potting of electrical and electronic components.
  • In laminating with glass fibre.

  • Reactive Diluents

Performance Characteristics: The bond strength immediately after lamination is good. The laminates can be subjected to secondary operations like second ply lamination, rewinding, slitting etc. after 10 hours of initial lamination, provided all the process control parameters are adhered to while lamination and the laminate quality is good. The adhesive system will require at least 8 days to develop its optimum heat and chemical resistant properties.
