I worked as a Registrar Gastroenterology at Mercy Hospital, Cork, since July 1995 for a two-year period. I actively participated in the management of various acutely and chronically ill patients of various specialities with a predominance of Gastroenterology. I got trained in various upper and lower gastro intestinal diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures and looked after the busy day care center and outpatient clinics. I participated in the ongoing undergraduate teaching activities in the hospital and attended the postgraduate case conferences, journal club etc.

From July 1st 1997 until 5th July 1998 and from 7th September 1998 to 30th June 1999. I worked as Registrar Hepatology/Gastroenterology at Cork University Hospital. For a period of two months I worked as a locum consultant (July/August-98) at Cork University Hospital where I was independantly looking after the GI department.
I was trained in performing various diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy including ERCP three sessions every week. I ran two outpatient clinics every week and managed the in patients. I participated in case conferences, journal clubs and teaching of medical students & research.During this period I got tained in various aspects of hepatology.I also ran a hepatitis C clinic as there was a large outbreak of heatitis C in Ireland due to contaminted anti-D vaccine.I had also attended various national and international conferences during this period,

From July 1999 to June 2002 I worked as a Clinical Registrar at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. This post provided me a wide range of training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at a very busy teaching hospital.
I rotated between two consultants during this period. I had been performing upper and lower G.I. endoscopy (diagnostic / therapeutic) three sessions a week. I continued my ERCP training including its various therapeutic aspects. I participated in running of out patient clinics and care of in-patients. I regularly participated in all teaching/research activities.I also continued my training in various aspects of advanced hepatology.
During this period I have also provided weekend cover as a Locum Consultant Physician at Louth District Hospital, Dundalk a 200 beded district hospital over a period of 20 weekends and one full week.I was fully resposible for all aspects of patient care during this period.

From July 2002, I am working as a Gastroenteroloy/Hepatology registrar at St. Vincent’s University hospital,Dublin, Ireland.
I am pursued my further training in advanced GI endoscopy / ERCP including its various therapeutic aspects. I have also acquired training in performing GI motility studies / Ph studies at St. James’s University Hospital,Dublin, Ireland. I was attending Liver Transplantation Meetings and doing liver transplantation / Hepatology On – call to further my training in advanced Hepatology. I had participated in all activities related to liver transplantation as a registrar including running of liver clinic.I had attended liver transplant X ray clinic,histopathology clinic etc. I had also participated in research projects going on in our department. I was also the member of the busy colo-rectal clinic where we managed patients with difficult to treat inflamatory bowel disease in close liaison with GI surgeons.
I had attended various national/international conferences during this period.
