Dr. Ayyappan  is a highly qualified,experienced and Board Certified Plastic surgeon practicing in Ahmedabad since the last 20 years. After acquiring the MBBS degree  from prestigious Madras University with “Gold Medal in Clinical Surgery” in 1988,he was selected to pursue residency through ALL INDIA MERIT  for Masters degree in Surgery in 1992, thereafter  he underwent Senior residency for 3 years in  Plastic Surgery wherein he stood  University first in merit in Gujarat  University exams.He showed his proficiency in Plastic Surgery by successfully qualifying in First attempt National Board Exams  for the award of “Diplomate in Plastic Surgery” in 1995.He was further selected on Merit for the award of Member National Academy of Medical Sciences (Plastic Surgery) .He has been a dedicated teacher and has trained many surgeons in Surgery and Plastic surgery as a faculty(Associate Professor) with B.J. Medical College and Civil hospital for nearly two decades .

He was invited by the prestigious Chinese University of HongKong as a teaching faculty  and   served as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon  at Prince of Wales Hospital at HongKong   and gained experience in Cosmetic surgery, high end microsurgery, cancer reconstructive surgery for head and neck including free flaps for immediate reconstructing of tongue after commando surgeries  . He was selected for Karl Zeiss -Ganga  fellowship in Hand&MicrovascularSurgery at the prestigious Ganga Hospital &Research Centre at Coimbatore . Dr. Ayyappan  has traveled widely to centres of excellence both Nationally and Internationally to learn special techniques in various areas of medical services like mega liposuction, hair transplantation, liposuction surgery, facial bone reconstruction, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation/lift/reduction, ear cosmetic surgery, eyes plastic surgery, nose cosmetic surgery augmentation, nose cosmetic surgery reduction, face lift, gynecomastia (male breast correction), hand & maxillofacial reconstruction, eyelid reconstructive surgery etc.

Dr. Ayyappan is well known for his work in reconstructive microsurgery, and his extensive experience and his pioneering work in reconstructive surgery and novel technique of using bone marrow for healing  chronic non healing wounds have earned him international acclaim and recognition.He has innovated and published 2 new flaps 1)Super sural flaps for heel reconstruction and2) Aponuero faciocutaneous flaps for hand reconstruction in international journals  and has more than 20 papers to his credit in international &national journals .His technique  on Bone marrow Transplant for healing Chronic Wounds  was performed  for the first time in world and was accepted for presentation at the Asia Pacific International burns Conference at Shanghai in 2006. He also has coauthored  for a multi author book titled Frontiers of Cord Blood Science published by Rad cliffe. His work has been presented widely both in India and abroad. He holds the exclusive privilege of being the Reviewer for  Plastic &Reconstructive Surgery(USA) and British journal of Plastic Surgery(UK). Dr. Ayyappan is currently Full-time Senior Consultant exclusively at Apollo Hospitals International at Ahmedabad. He has considerable experience in Cosmetic surgery, including cosmetic surgery of the face, nose, eyes, lips, ears, as well as surgery for fat reduction by lipectomy or liposuction, and cosmetic surgery of the breasts.He is a member of the Association of Plastic Surgeons, Indian Society for Reconstructive microsurgery, Indian Society for Facial Plastic surgery, Indian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
