In
this contemporary world, where non- biodegradable material is
extensively used, an environment friendly cash crop like jute comes
as a blessing for restoring the ecological balance of nature. India
is the leading producer of jute and it is copiously found in its
eastern regions like West Bengal. Jute is known by diverse names in
different parts of the world such as Burlap, Yute, Juta, Luta.
Jute
is the second most abundantly occurring fiber in nature, next to
cotton it has extensive usage in making versatile products. Jute is a
tropical fiber plant, chiefly cultivated in deltaic regions in grimy
and clayey loams. Jute is a naturally occurring fiber having several
beneficial traits such as silky
texture, high tensile strength and low extensibility. It
has a remarkable feature of replenishing ability which
makes its usage profound. In other terms it is ecologically safe
because of its easy biodegradability. Jute undergoes various methods
of processes such as assorting, softening & drawing for making it
appropriate in its usage, for spinning into yarns and others.
