Happenings / News / Press CoverageDuke World News May 7th, 2010 The government will not review the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) norms for the banking sector, a policy that has rendered lenders like ICICI Bank and HDFC as foreign owned entities. The Industry Minister said, “No revisiting the norms.” when asked whether the government would review FDI norms in the wake of clarifications sought by the banks. FDI norms announced last year say that if indirect FDI in an Indian company exceeds 50%, its investment in subsidiaries will also be treated as foreign investment.
