E.G. KANTAWALLA was founded as a retail outlet in the year 1918 by Essaji Gulhamhusain Kantawalla. At that time it traded in all types of weighing scales imported from England, France and Germany.
In the year 1960, the company ventured into manufacturing. At that time India converted its weighing units from Pounds (British) to Kilogram (Metric). From 1960 to 1987, E.G. KANTAWALLA manufactured almost all types of mechanical weighing scales and measures. All scales, weight and measures manufactured were marketed under the brand name EAGLE.
In the year 1987, E.G. KANTAWALLA decided to enter into the electronic weighing scale segment.On 3rdseptember 1987, the first EAGLE electronic digital weighing scale was installed at Sun Yarn Pvt.Limited, Silvassa. Since then EAGLE has installed over 1 Million weighing scales and has the capacity to weigh an item from 0.01 mg up to 200 Tons.
In the year 1993, the partnership company was incorporated under the Indian companies act and came to be known as E.G. KANTAWALLA PRIVATE LIMITED.

With its aggressive approach to marketing EAGLE today is a major brand In India. In fact it would not be wrong to say that EAGLE today sets the trend and pattern for sale of electronic weighing scales in India. Today EAGLE sells over 50,000 scales every year.
