The elscint vibratory bowl feeders are having ce marking, thus conforming to the stringent european safety norms for machinery safety, low voltage directive as well as the electro magnetic compatibility.
Engine Valve Feeding System![]() a feeding system for feeding of engine valves having dia from 20 mm to 50 mm and length between 30 mm to 200 mm. Any number of sizes between these dimensions can be fed in this system. A vibratory bowl feeder is used for feeding and orienting the engine valves. Thereafter, through a pneumatic take-up system, the engine valves are transported up to a height of 2 meters from the ground level for further feeding. Speed of between 40 to 100 pieces per minute can be achieved depending upon the sizes of the engine valves. The system results in a smooth flow of components without any starvation to the next machine. This increases the productivity of the engine valve producing units by more than 40%. The biggest advantages of this system are loading of the heavy engine valves at a height of just 500 mm, usage of the bare minimum space and flexibility of feeding various sizes of engine valves through the same feeding system. You just need to dump the screws and washers in the bowl feeder and they come out in an assembled fashion. Pokayoke concept has been implemented to ensure that not a single unassembled screw and washer come out of the bowl feeder. Normally, for assembly of screws and washers, two bowl feeders are required along with a motorized or pneumatic station where they are assembled. Taper Roller Feeding![]() the elscint taper roller feeding, orientation and elevating pump unit is a system designed for feeding and orienting taper rollers for taper roller bearings. The system utilizes elscint vibratory bowl feeder model 250, model 400 or model 630 depending upon the roller size to feed the parts to a set of powered gauge rolls. The inclination of the rolls, plus adjustable roll spacing from one end to the other enables parts to move / travel easily and rapidly into the desired position. An important feature is that the rolls being counter-rotating will not bind or grip the parts and are extremely sensitive to fine tolerances. The rolls are driven by elscint single reduction unit. The taper rollers are fed into the pump unit driven by a suitable elscint reduction unit and this pump unit elevates the rollers to the desired height from where they can be fed by gravity to the work station where they are needed. It is also very effective for handling a wide range of metal parts such as nuts, bolts and rivets. The Elscint Vibrating Tables are of electromechanical construction and are available in various models. The most popular is the VT 50 model. It has a capacity of 130 kgs with a VA rating of 70 VA. Even with this VA rating, the highly efficient design perfected by Elscint takes a current of just 1 Amp, just saving on energy costs. Usually, the number of components which can be loaded in a vibratory bowl feeder is constrained by the weight and the volume of the components. In order to increase the loading capacity, usually auxiliary bulk elevators are provided. The disadvantage of auxiliary bulk elevators is the extra space which they occupy and plus the extra cost and electrical consumption and wiring required for the same. The advantage is the ground level loading which is possible with bulk elevators. The loading height in case of bulk hoppers increases but in case of bulk elevators, reduces substantially. Bulk elevators are most suitable in case the vibratory bowl feeder is kept at a higher height. Counting Systems![]() an automatic vibratory counting system for counting of small parts like plastic caps, spouts, screws, rivets, capsules and electrical connectors, bearings, as well as heavy parts such as anchor bolts, bearing races and metal sockets. The standard equipment consists of a suitable Elscint vibratory bowl feeder, correctly chosen from a variety of Models which Elscint offers, a sensing device and an electronic reset able counter. The counter can be even upto 10 digits! And even more in case of special requirements. Counting speeds can be very high, even upto 1000 parts per minute, depending upon the component which requires counting. At the tapping station, tapping takes place with the help of a specially designed tapping head attachment. The completed component is then unloaded in a bin or ejected, as per requirement. In this, the rivets are fed through a vibratory bowl feeder to the riveting station. The other part (spring, strip etc.) can either be placed manually or automatically from another vibratory bowl feeder. Alternatively, the strip can be fed through a de-reeler and cut as per the requirement and fed automatically. Other options which are available is checking the spring / strip etc. before riveting, counting of the number of pieces riveted, automatic stoppage of machine when a wrong rivet / spring is fed etc. At the riveting point, the riveting takes place and the completed riveted assembly is blow out or removed manually as the case might be. Noise Suppressors![]() Elscint offers three types of noise enclosures for vibratory bowl feeders, namely, Square or rectangular mild steel cover lined with acoustic foam on the inside, round shaped mild steel cover with acoustic foam lined on the inside and thirdly, acrylic enclosure fixed with aluminium extruded Sections. Depending upon the budget, type of component, model of the bowl feeder and the noise reduction requirement of the customer, application engineers from Elscint can recommend the correct type of noise enclosure for your vibratory bowl feeder. In case a new vibratory bowl feeder is ordered on Elscint, noise enclosures are optionally provided to the customers. However, Elscint can also provide noise enclosures for old vibratory bowl feeders of any make. A noise reduction of between 10 Db to 20 Db can be achieved with the help of Elscint noise enclosures. In case of special applications like pharmaceutical requirements, even stainless steel noise enclosures can also be provided with special washable acoustic foam.The Elscint mild steel or stainless steel noise enclosures come with toggle clamps for easy removal and fastening. Additionally, the top cover is made of transparent acrylic with a particular thickness and hinges which not only reduces the noise but helps the operator to check whether the number of pieces in the bowl have reduced or require replenishment. Elscint can also provide a level controller with the noise enclosure and give a ring / flash a bulb in case the levels of components in the bowl reduce. This feature is very popular with most customers as it relieves the operator from continuously checking the level of components in the bowl. The Elscint sorting and grading Unit is designed to feed, sort and grade components like shims which require to be graded according to their thickness. This unit operates a speed in excess of 150 pieces per minute, depending on the size of the components. The system utilizes an Elscint vibratory bowl feeder of suitable model amongst the 6 Models of Elscint vibratory bowl feeders. The bowl feeder feeds the parts to a set of powered gauge rolls. These are powered by an Elscint geared motor of suitable rating. The inclination of the rolls, plus adjustable roll spacing from one end to the other enables parts to move / travel easily and rapidly into the desired position, while moving them to the discharge point. Undersized parts are first separated, followed by those within tolerance. Oversize and damaged or oversize parts continue to the end of the rolls and are discharged into a separate container. An important feature is that the rolls being counter-rotating does not bind or grip the parts and are extremely sensitive to fine tolerances. The basic unit works on a fixed speed, however, optionally Elscint can also offer sensor and a variable speed AC or DC motor fitted with an Elscint reduction unit. Elscint Vibratory Bowl Feeder![]() Elscint Vibratory Bowl Feeder For 6 Components From Two Families Elscint Automation, the leading vibratory parts feeder manufacturer from India recently manufactured a bowl feeder for feeding of 4 types of cups and 2 types of baffles. Both these types of components were from separate families and hence separate bowls were required for both these families of components. Elscint Vibratory bowl feeder Model 400 was used for this purpose. Model 400 is a full wave vibrator having rating of 780 VA, drawing just about 4 Amp current. Due to correct design and proper coating, it works very efficiently at a high speed and the noise level too is very less. The Model 400 drive unit too is CE certified for machinery safety, low voltage directive as well as the electro-magnetic compatibility. Orientation required at the outlet for the cups was open side facing sky, however, the cup needed to be first reversed to make it open side facing ground to ensure that burr and small unwanted parts are removed from the cups. Then the cup again needed to be reversed to ensure that the required orientation at the end of the bowl is realized in the “open side facing sky” manner. There were a total of 4 types of cups (diameter 14 mm x 8 mm ht., dia 18 mm x 7.5 mm ht., dia 20 mm x 7.5 mm ht. and dia 25 mm x 12 mm ht). All these parts are fed and even reversed in 360 degrees with the minimum amount of changeover parts and adjustments. A speed or feed rate of 350 parts per minute was achieved. An Elscint cast aluminium bowl Model 400 with Elscinthane PU coating and stainless steel tooling was used for this purpose. Elscinthane PU coating ensures that there is no metal to metal contact and thus reduces the noise level as well as increases the friction, thus further improving the feed rate and performance of the bowl. The life of the bowl too increases due to this type of coating. Further in the same feeder, two types of baffles were needed to be fed. However, the geometry and sizes of the baffles were totally different from that of the cups. One baffle was having diameter 38.5 mm x 2.9 mm thickness with a curved side. While the other baffle had diameter 47.4 mm x 1.75 mm thickness with an internal curve, making it very difficult to orient. For these two baffles, Elscint supplied a separate bowl which could be changed easily. This bowl too was of cast aluminium with Elscinthane PU coating and stainless steel tooling. The baffles too had to be turned around in 360 degrees as they came out naturally with the curve up. Hence, first they needed to be turned in 180 degrees to ensure that the curve side was facing ground. Then again they were turned in 180 degrees to ensure that the final orientation was the curved side up. Speed of the baffles was 60 parts per minute. The bowl feeder was supplied to a customer in Europe. Agitator VibratorsAgitator Vibrator is a unit for generating small vibrations for the purpose of sieving / shaking / aligning operations for small components. These are manufactured to work on 220 volts 50 Hz supply. These can be also be customized as per the specific requirement of customers. Rotary FeederRotary Feeder is a mechanical unit that can be used for feeding special components, where it is not possible to orient the component in the Vibratory Feeders or where high speeds are required. Elscint single reduction unit drives the main rotating plate that picks up the components while moving upwards. Due to gravity components get loaded into the slot of the rotating plate. While moving upwards, the mechanism placed on the periphery orient the components, while non-oriented components drop back into the hopper area for further lifting.
